With the development of the smart grid, we can expect many new developments in the electricity market. The smart grid will allow unprecedented levels of communication between electricity suppliers and consumers, as well as giving utilities much greater real-time information about the state of their transmission and distribution systems. As the smart grid rolls out, utilities will be able to monitor the health of the grid in real time, with communications coming in from various components of the grid. With this information, they will be able to send crews out to take care of problems before any customers lose power, and they will be able to send them to the actual source of the problem, rather than having to drive around looking for it. The end result for consumers is that they are likely to see the reliability of their electricity service increase, with fewer outages and electricity quality problems.

The smart grid represents a needed upgrade to our aging electricity infrastructure. It will take time for devices to be developed that will allow consumers and their appliances to fully interact with the smart grid, but, even before that occurs, the smart grid is likely to benefit both electricity suppliers and consumers by improving the reliability of the electrical grid. The smart grid may require a large investment now, but it will surely pay off over the long run in smoother grid operation and more efficient use of electricity generation, transmission, and distribution resources.

Maglite is one of the most popular flashlight brands on the market today. They are affordable, durable, and provide quality lighting. Many people use Maglites for a variety of purposes, and here are ten ways you can put a Maglite to use for you.

1. Key chain safety light. Maglite makes a small flashlight specifically designed to fit on a keychain and be carried in a purse or pocket. This light, which is called the Solitaire, has a specially designed barrel to allow you to shine it in the same direction your key is while it is still on your key chain. This allows you to see car and house door locks clearly at night and unlock them quickly. Limiting the time you spending getting in and out of cars and buildings at night limits your exposure to possibly dangerous situations.

2. Emergency car light. Many people keep one of the larger models of Maglites in their car or truck at all times. The original Maglite flashlight is great for this purpose, and can be stored right under the passenger or driver seat. Having a light in your car can be useful if you get into an accident at night or if you have a flat tire. In addition, a Maglite is durable and heavy enough to break a window should you need to escape from your car due to a wreck or rising water, but you can’t open the door or get the windows down.

3. Replace your emergency candle stock. Many of Maglite‘s products come with a candle mode. This allows the head of the light to be removed and used as a base to set the barrel in. Using this feature, you can place the lights on a table and use them just like a candle, but without the risk of a fire! 4. Secure stick. Many people are aware that in the past, police have used their large flashlights as weapons to subdue suspects or to defend themselves during a fight. While this has been looked down upon in the area of policing, when you are defending yourself and your family, you probably won’t care what you use. By keeping a Maglite in your car, you will always have a good, solid weapon if you need it, in addition to having a good solid light source. If you are squeamish about defending yourself with a flashlight, often just shining this extra bright light into the eyes of a threat can buy you the time needed to escape.

5. Dedicated tool box light. I remember when my dad would work on a project when I was young. Anytime a flashlight was needed, the entire house was uprooted to find where it had got off to. Usually once it was found, there was another search for the proper batteries. You can avoid this hassle by having a small flashlight dedicated to your toolbox. Maglite makes several small, durable flashlights that are great for this purpose. Since they are constructed of metal, they would be able to endure the hardship incurred by being storied with screwdrivers and hammers. The LED lights would also offer longer battery life, making them a better option for the frequent handyman.

6. Precision craft light. Crafters who do needlepoint or work with beads know that the right lighting can make or break a project. Of course, good lighting isn’t always available, and the standard overhead lighting in homes is almost never enough. This lighting problem can be cured with the addition of a small Maglite. Then, a concentrated beam of bright white light can be aimed at the particular place being worked, providing the ability to see any fine detail within the project.

What is DVR? DVR is a digital video recorder and is also known as a personal video recorder. Unlike a VCR, the DVR records directly to a disk or hard drive instead of to a video tape of sorts.
