Money is not a bad thing. Money creates opportunities and allows us choices. Somewhere along the line in growing your business, you will face one or more decisions about money. I teach solopreneurs and sole proprietors to get control of their finances by looking at their budget, cashflow statement and profit & loss statement, not just the checkbook, to make strategic decisions.

We align the results of those decisions with their business plan, marketing plan and sales plan.

Even with those planning pieces in place, there are still many options to finance the next step for your business. The fact is every business always needs money and it most likely will take longer to get than you ever imagined.

Your need for capital and the sources available to you depend on the stage of development you are in, sales volume, size of your team, development needs, manufacturing or production costs, marketing and sales strategies, and many other factors specific to your market and your offering.

In general, investors like to see a detailed plan of how you’ll use the money and their ROI. They want some control (usually the larger the investment, the more control they exert). And they like to see a strong experienced management team, a developed product/service offering, large market opportunity, and current paying customers (3 or more customers start to make you look real). So in fact, it’s hardest to find other people’s money when you are just getting started and gets easier the more profitable and growing you become.

Credit Cards – $10K+ They are a primary source for many businesses. But choose wisely based on interest rates and other criteria. It is easy for credit cards to get out of control, so watch the cashflow carefully.

Bank Loans – $$ Vary Unsecured loans are harder to get. But even if the approved loan size is reduced, this is a good source of capital to explore.

Home Equity Loans – $50K+ If you have equity in your home that you can cash out, this can be a source of significant capital, just remember, it’s your own home at risk, which may bias other decisions within the business.

Gov’t Funding (SBIR, STTR, Fast Track, etc) – $$ Vary There are a myriad of federal programs and agencies offering capital and guaranteed loans to small businesses. Check out which ones you may qualify for to fund R&D efforts, before you rule them out. It is amazing how much money they want to give away even to solo and startup businesses.

Private Investors (Angels) – $25K-$2M These individual investors also provide seed money, but they are an elusive breed and hard to find. Angels may provide industry or management expertise.

Angel Groups – $500K-$5M Angels also collaborate with other angels to invest larger amounts. Getting access to them requires an introduction from experts and other service providers.

Venture Capital – $5M+ Cold-calling and submitting unsolicited business plans to these people doesn’t work. They require an introduction from accountants, bankers, attorneys and other service providers. They do take a big piece of the company for their participation.

Royalty Capital – $50K-$500K This is where you go to market with a near-completed product or service. The payback is based on royalties from the revenue stream with a cap and your equity is not diluted.

Purchase Orders – $$ Vary To increase cashflow, purchase orders are ideal. Get contracts written with 1/3 down, incremental payments along the way and the balance at delivery.

Strategic Alliances – $$ Vary They build support. A strategic alliance can form in many ways to serve a variety of purposes for your business. A strategic alliance may be someone who donates money, a prime customer who partners with you for marketing and sales, a distribution channel who provides introductions, lines of credit, etc.

Suppliers – $$ Vary Your suppliers will benefit from your future sales. The incentive is for them to provide trade credit, free samples, maybe design or testing services or even introductions to fill your sales pipeline and thereby fill their own.

IPOs – $50M+ An Initial Public Offering (IPO) gets lots of press because it can provide lots of cash revenue for emerging companies with a proven ROI. However, most businesses do not or cannot qualify for this approach. They are not the best option in a down economy.

About nine years ago, after slapping my son and feeling terrible about it, and feeling ashamed of so much anger I had, I had an enlightening thought. God surely did not mean for us to pass down sadness, hurt and anger from generation after generation. I soon forgot about that, but God remembered, and he started taking me on a journey.

He taught me that a loving home is a loving heart. I had a loving heart, but I doubted it. I thought I was awful for hurting my son and yelling at my husband, but what I have found was that anger was coming out of me because it needed to be released.

All anger must be released, so it’s important to release anger in a healthy way, so that others do not get hurt. The bottom line is that anger builds up when we are not being true to ourselves. We are loved beings, and we each have an inner voice and inner wisdom that is perfect and wants to guide us. When we suppress it, we feel stressed, lost and confused. We get angry at ourselves for hiding who we truly are, and then over time we forget who we truly are. But not anymore! The truth is being revealed. Thank goodness!

Rather than let your inner voice and inner wisdom come up on its own, which could be painful, help it come up, with love and care! Be kind to yourself and heal yourself. Release the anger in a safe way.

Here are some tips:

1. Writing: Write exactly how you feel, and get it out of your system. There are many layers to anger. Keep at it.

2. Get Body Work: I do Angel Sessions, and there are lots of healing modalities out there to help assist you as you heal yourself.

3. Yell, scream, punch. Find a friend who will stand in for the person or situation with whom you are angry with, and yell at them with passion and completeness. Use your fists and punch the air around them, but not touching them! Because of the mercy of God and the angels, you can also yell, scream and punch at them, as they would rather take the pain than see another human hurt. In return, send them lots of gratitude for helping you heal. They love you so much.

4. Exercise with power, for example, do some punches and kicks in air.

After releasing the anger, bring in lots of love and light to replace what you have just released! You can do this by:

1. Prayer: Ask to be filled with pure love and light.

2. Body Work: Body workers will fill your body with love and light, just as they assist in releasing the pain from deep within you.

3. Use your Magic Pot and put some scoops of it in your drink, or bath for example.

4. Use your hands and cover your body with golden light and love!

5. Write a loving letter to yourself.

6. Sing a love song to yourself.

How we can not succeed if we’ve working together to accomplish the same goal.

I got really excited and I started to think, it’s really that simple and makes so much sense that I have to tell everyone. I have to share this will every single person I know. They may not all sign up but I know the right person will come along and we’ll work together to make this grow.

After that moment, I started calling everyone and telling my friends at work. I was just pumped when the Lord told me that it’s “People helping people” I knew that I could speak to everyone with boldness and with such conviction because the truth is, we all need help, and that’s for sure. Together we can accomplish anything and together we will succeed. Just remember you’re getting paid to get healthy, have fun, and share it with others. Note, the terms “do and keep doing” embodies success, because what we hope to do with ease, we must learn first and failure is not uncommon in learning new things in order to do and achieve what we want with diligence. Even if we fail or make mistakes, it may turn out to be the one thing necessary to a worthwhile achievement, because success consists of going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm.

Great men like Ralph Waldo Emerson have observed the tendencies of an average person when he lamented that “Men talk as if victory were something fortunate. Work is victory.” So go on to do and keep doing!

One only gets to the top rung on the ladder by hanging on and steadily climbing up one at a time, and though you flounder and wonder whether your deeds are adequate to achieve what you want, still you climb, even if you cannot see the finish-line, still you climb. Suddenly, all sorts of powers, all sorts of abilities which you thought never belonged to you – suddenly become within your own possibility.

Oprah says “You CAN have it all. You just can’t have it all at once.” In reality it is in the small decisions you and I make every day that create our destiny, successive positive deeds will render our own success and vice versa. It is for this that we should NOT always be looking outside ourselves for success, strength and confidence, but these things come from within. It is there all the time. So our past is not our potential. In any hour we can choose to liberate the future.

Is the new man in my life already married, the question that is so hard to ask, yet very important.

Little girls between the ages of three and seven are particularly fond of dressing up and, if you buy, make or adapt your own angel fancy dress costume, it can be used time and time again for dressing up and make-believe play. Your angel can put her arms through the elastic and wear the wings like a back pack. A tinsel covered halo made from craft wire and attached to an alice band completes the angel fancy dress costume.

If all this sounds too exhausting, especially with all the other aspects involved in organising a party or if you are not the creative type, then the easy alternative is to buy or hire an angel fancy dress costume. Don’t forget to supply your little angels with suitably heavenly party food. Cupcakes or fairy cakes can be adapted into angel cakes. Cut a slice off the top of each cake, divide into two, place a teaspoon of butter cream into the void, and arrange a pair of “wings” on each cake. Sprinkle with edible angel dust and silver and gold dragees. Angel “dolls” can be made from fondant icing, marzipan or gingerbread. Finally, for drinks, strawberry or vanilla milkshakes sprinkled with edible angel dust and topped with a strawberry halved into “wings” are sure to impress at your angel fancy dress costume party.

JONQUILS

Oh here are cream jonquils!

First harbinger of Spring

Scented with strange haunting power

Memories’ gates open in my mind

As joyful thoughts of childhood, cherished still

Arise to surface at jonquils’ finding!

Once as sensitive child

Now in mature late years

Magic flowers, of fine form, perfumed

Tantalise, turn me to gipsy

When seen on vacant block, or roadside ditch

I’ll stop, to pick a wild bunch for my home.

I wish to recapture

That innocent rapture

Of a youth which is now long gone

To inhale and reawaken

Instinctive love for Nature- best of all

So it’s jonquils I’ve picked by the wayside…

KATE

She’s a darling, this girl Kate

With the clear, clear blue eyes

She’s young and she’s happy

She laughs and she never cries

She’s come as a visitor

To our home on the hill

I’m glad to have her here,

Here with me and my dear Bill.

She’s so sweet, this young girl Kate

As she sits and reads, sews

Frill on her petticoat

Though not needed, heaven knows!

She’s so lovely, young and free

She’s pretty and she’s slim

(Wonder if Bill’s aware

He is not so very trim?)

My Bill looks at her, this Kate

With his fine deep brown eyes

(Often see him smiling…

Sometimes gazing at the skies)

She’s so pretty, little Kate

Cherry red her curved lips

And slim as a fine reed

With such slender little hips!

She tempts the boys I’ll wager

Though she doesn’t seem care

Happy being single

Kate with her long, blended hair

She’ll soon have a nice husband

Sharing home on some hill

She’ll need to marry soon

(I’m so glad I’ve got my Bill)

My Bill’s attentive and kind

Takes her too on his round

Tending sheep, checking fence

(Her skin’s getting very browned!)

She’s full of life, this girl Kate

She laughs and flirts to kill

Boys seem to adore her

(Though he’d better not, my Bill!)

Her Mother is my good friend

Not seen her for a while

She lives at Tenterford

Far from us by sixty mile.

Such a pretty lass, this Kate

With the dancing blue eyes

She’s always just happy

And she never, never cries!

Kate’s pretty, blonde and so sweet

Home with us, on our hill

But I’ll send her home soon

(‘fore she tears heart out of Bill.)

He looks close at her sometimes

And I swear doesn’t know

He’s fallen deep in love

And won’t want for her to go.

She’s a dear girl, this girl Kate

With the lovely blonde hair

I wish she didn’t blush

When my Bill is standing there!

We’d a quiet chat ‘fore she left

Me and Kate on the hill

She’s a wise girl, this Kate

Seems she rejected my Bill!

KISS-ME-QUICK

This little flower is bright and quite enticing

With its dainty inflorescence of pretty, pink florets

Pink and deepening to a richer, special darkish red

The leaves and stems a pale, complementary shade of green

The latter adding altogether to its unique attraction

Although only considered a “common” flower, I do believe

Kiss-me-quick deserves more attention, belonging as it does

To that past time when country maidens loved and named their local

flora

So, in a romantic turn of mood and mind they must be forgiven

When they expressed their shy hearts’ longings in floral ways -

And in good faith I will remember how once in gentler days love

was so conveyed

And this little flower, not Red Valerian but as “Kiss me quick!” it

will remain so all my days!

LADY OF THE NIGHT

And lo! when darkness yields to the uprising Light

Soft with silken caress she winds her midnight cloak

All of us assembled to await her passing

Witness her being Light, though dark mantled is she.

Midnight were her tresses and midnight her dark eyes

Radiant her nature, too bright for mortals’ sight

Cloaked was she kindly, dark raiments thus to shield us

From the fierce brightness of her sovereign lord the Sun.

Faded, vision of the Dark Mother of the Moon

Fading as the long first beams of pale sunlight shone

Retiring serene, she gracefully must await

Next evening’s herald of her next night’s visual state.

Now my dark Lady of the Night, cloak about her

(I fancy smaller shadow cradled in her arms)

Appears so caring, with tender, loving feelings

…But my Gentle Lady, I can no longer see!

With my eyes a-straining, my whole soul a-yearning

I heard echo as if a thought from her to me

I felt, I heard, I’m not sure which, but thus it seemed

My mind illumined opened wide, for thus I dreamed.

Learning in wordless ways the plight of human soul

And how it is that humans live and love and be

And what happens when life ends at that we call death

When souls are drawn into Her realm of Cosmic Sea.

From that Great Sea of Life, peaceful, vast, deep, and strange

Baptised, refreshed, re-born we each must live again

This time requires Her guidance and Her tender care

Of those with fear and those of us who’re not prepared

Each from our separate sight perceives the Dark Lady

I see Her beautiful, comfort guide we deserve…

Lo! time has passed – I now can only faintly see

Remaining finest line of light and loving curve

This, a precious, treasured glimpse of the Dark Angel

As she gracious, surrenders to her lord the Sun

Her gentle eyes in softness yielding to her lord

Comforts me when it’s time deep darkness be explored

I’m intent to henceforth keep my sacred vigil

In seeking subtle life as well as wisdom taught

I will put full effort in my task of living

Until the time comes to yield my personal will

At last appointment with my Lady of the Night

I will draw final breath – to go without a fight

I’ll let her release me, lovingly baptise me,

In sweet forgetfulness within the Cosmic Sea.
