Bose-Einstein Condensation of Excitons and Biexcitons: And Coherent Nonlinear Optics with Excitons : Bose-Einstein condensation of excitons is a unique effect in which the electronic states of a solid can self-organize to acquire quantum phase coherence. The phenomenon is closely linked to Bose-Einstein condensation in other systems such as liquid helium and laser-cooled atomic gases. Covering theoretical aspects as well as recent experimental work, the book provides a comprehensive survey of the field. After introducing the relevant basic physics of excitons, the authors discuss exciton-phonon interactions as well as the behavior of biexcitons. They also cover exciton phase-transitions and give particular attention to nonlinear optical effects including the optical Stark effect and chaos in excitonic systems. The thermodynamics of equilibrium, quasiequilibrium, and nonequilibrium systems are examined in detail. Throughout, the authors interweave theoretical and experimental results. The book will be of great interest to graduate students and researchers in semiconductor and superconductor physics, quantum optics, and atomic physics.

Yamaha Tsx-100 Tsx100 Desktop Audio System with Ipod Dock (Ipod NOT Included)

Yamaha Tsx-100 Tsx100 Desktop Audio System with Ipod Dock (Ipod NOT Included) All-in-one feature but not the sound – Nekocate – SAN JOSE, CA United States
The system is a kind of all-in-one such as playing CD(MP3 or WMA), iPod dock, and 3.5mm mini plug for MP3 player. However, it produces an average sound (plus a little bit more). You probably won’t hear much bass coming out of it. I try to find the sound range covered but the marketing folks at Yamaha won’t put it in the spec. They must be kidding their customers by blowing up MSRP to 450 compared to the sound quality of the system. With 150 at FRY’s, the price is acceptable. I would rate 10 for features/construction and 1 for sound (with this MSRP range).

Bose-Condensed Gases at Finite Temperatures

Bose-Condensed Gases at Finite Temperatures : The discovery of Bose Einstein condensation (BEC) in trapped ultracold atomic gases in 1995 has led to an explosion of theoretical and experimental research on the properties of Bose-condensed dilute gases. The first treatment of BEC at finite temperatures, this book presents a thorough account of the theory of two-component dynamics and nonequilibrium behaviour in superfluid Bose gases. It uses a simplified microscopic model to give a clear, explicit account of collective modes in both the collisionless and collision-dominated regions. Major topics such as kinetic equations, local equilibrium and two-fluid hydrodynamics are introduced at an elementary level. Explicit predictions are worked out and linked to experiments. Providing a platform for future experimental and theoretical studies on the finite temperature dynamics of trapped Bose gases, this book is ideal for researchers and graduate students in ultracold atom physics, atomic, molecular and optical physics and condensed matter physics.

Peasant Labour and Colonial Capital: Rural Bengal since 1770 (The New Cambridge History of India)

Peasant Labour and Colonial Capital: Rural Bengal since 1770 (The New Cambridge History of India) : This book is a critical work of synthesis and interpretation on one of the central themes in modern Indian history – agrarian change under British colonial rule. Sugata Bose analyses the relationships between demography, commercialization, class structure and peasant resistance unfolding over the long term between 1770 and more recent times. By integrating the histories of land and capital, he examines the relationship between capitalist ‘development’ of the wider economy under colonial rule and agrarian continuity and change. Drawing most of his empirical evidence from rural Bengal, the author makes comparisons with regional agrarian histories of other parts of South Asia. Thus, this study stands on its own in the field of modern Indian social and economic history in its chronological sweep and comparative context and makes the complex subject of India’s peasantry accessible to students and the interested non-specialist.

Excitations in a Bose-condensed Liquid (Cambridge Studies in Low Temperature Physics)

Excitations in a Bose-condensed Liquid (Cambridge Studies in Low Temperature Physics) : This volume gives an up-to-date, systematic account of the microscopic theory of Bose-condensed fluids developed since the late 1950s. The core of the present book is the development of the field-theoretic analysis needed to deal with a Bose-condensed fluid. However, the author also brings out the essential physics behind the formal Green’s function techniques and presents plausible scenarios to understand recent high resolution neutron and Raman scattering data. The first three chapters give a useful overview and introductory material while the concluding chapter gives an assessment and suggestions for further research.

Cambridge SoundWorks 730 Radio (Black)

Cambridge SoundWorks 730 Radio (Black) Cambridge: 730-Black The SoundWorks 730 Radio is so right that we think it will change how the world listens to music. Just a little bigger than a cigar box, it sounds better than many component stereos we have heard.

The SoundWorks 730 uses high-performance speakers, contoured amplifiers and a built-in powered subwoofer to reproduce music with remarkable accuracy. The sound is rich, realistic and warm. The speakers are designed to disperse the music throughout the room for truly “out of the box sound.” If you were to listen to the SoundWorks Radio blindfolded, you’d probably think it as a stereo system with speakers six feet apart. It simply sounds much bigger than it looks.

You just won’t believe the bass that comes out of the SoundWorks 730! Over half of the radio’s cabinet is taken up by a long-throw subwoofer. In our initial demonstrations, people kept looking under the table for a hidden subwoofer.

The SoundWorks Radio sounds amazing. Rich, natural, room-filling sound ? including great bass. We’ve never heard a table radio we think sounds better. If you’re looking for a table radio that can compete with a full-component system in sound and performance, look no further than Cambridge SoundWorks 730 Radio. Thanks to a built-in subwoofer and ingenious amplification engineering, the SoundWorks 730 will put any other table radio under the table in head-to-head competition. Priced much less than its closest table-top competitors, the SoundWorks 730 is in a class of its own, delivering uncompromised performance and unequalled value.

The Built-in Subwoofer: The Heart of the System
It’s amazing what a difference a subwoofer can make. When you turn on your SoundWorks 730, your first reaction will be to look under the table for hidden subwoofer. There’s no mistaking the pulse created by a real subwoofer. Cambridge engineers came up with an ingenious way to position the subwoofer and amplify the bass to produce deep, distortion-free sound at any volume. In combination with its wide-dispersion speakers, the SoundWorks 730 delivers sound that’s hard to believe comes from such a small box. It’s not just better than most tabletop radios, but actually better than many component stereo systems. With separate bass and treble controls, and an auxiliary input for a CD or MP3 player, the SoundWorks 730 gives you everything you need to fill your room with awesome sound.

A Lot of Features to Love
. But there’s a lot more to this baby to love than just the sound. A large, 32-character display means that you’ll no longer have to squint to see what you’re listening to. From clear across the room, you’ll be able to read the song your radio is playing (assuming your FM station supports Radio Data Service) in your choice of five languages, scrolling across the display. An automatic dimmer reduces display brightness in dark rooms while maintaining good legibility under bright conditions. The SoundWorks 730 also has 16 presets for two bands of FM tuning and 8 presets for AM reception, front inputs for your CD or MP3 player, and a headphone jack. Rear inputs and outputs are included for recording, mixing and outside signal reception. A full-featured remote control offers the ultimate in convenience, while the alarm clock function offers variable snooze settings and two alarms that wake to tone or music.

What’s in the Box
AM/FM stereo radio with attached 95-inch AC cord, AM loop antenna, FM wire antenna, remote control, CR2025 battery, user’s manual, and online registration card.
