Marbella Golf

Marbella is famed for its wonderful beaches and having plenty of sunshine throughout the year. But nowadays it has become a Mecca for golf players of all levels as it offers more than 60 courses within a short drive from this wonderful city.

Not only are some of the courses situated within certain developments, there are a number that are situated on the slopes that help to create this part of Spain’s microclimate. It isn’t just players from across Europe that enjoy these courses but from across the world. It is also a region where some of the major championships take place.

So what courses are worth considering visiting and playing when you come on a golfing holiday to Marbella?

1 – Old San Roque

This is a par 72 course that is well established and offers you spectacular mountain views and on a really clear day you may even catches a glimpse of Gibraltar. This isn’t only a challenging course but also an extremely fair one and all the fairways are lined with mature trees offer a little respite from the sun. In 2005 this hosted the Spanish Open Championship which is part of the European PGA Tour.

2 – New San Roque

This course was opened in 2003 and was the brainchild of Seve Ballesteros and Perry Dye. Again it is a par 72 course and is one of the most beautifully designed courses in this part of Spain. Since opening it has been home of two of Europe’s most prestigious golfing events. In 2005 it was host of the European School Qualifying School and then in 2006 it hosted the Spanish Open.

3 – Valderrama

This is yet another of the championship golf courses to be found located near to Marbella. However this is only a par 71 and is suitable for players of all levels. This one was designed by Robert Trent Jones Snr and has been host to a number of major events.

How To Tell When You’ve Been On Too Many Cheap Holidays In Spain

If you want to have a really good time, enjoy the sun and yet not put too much of a hole in your bank balance, you simply cannot do better than a spur-of-the-moment, cheap Spanish holiday. The country has a huge amount to offer and is very welcoming to us visitors.

However, once you’ve got into the swing of things and become a regular Spanish holiday maker, there are a number of important things to remember when you return from your latest cheap holiday in Spain – those habits you learned over all those weeks in the sun might not go down so well when you get home. Here is a list of the top ten habits to break when you get back from a Spanish holiday – including unfortunate hairstyle mistakes and the urge to sleep from 2 till 5.

1) During your cheap holiday to Spain you discovered that adding lemonade, fanta or even coke to red wine is perfectly acceptable, especially at lunchtime. Your UK friends aren’t so sure.

2) On holiday in Spain you could party all night long. Now you can’t get over how early bars and clubs shut back home – surely they’re shutting just as you should be going out?

3) A bull’s head on the wall of a bar is no longer a talking point for you; it’s just a regular part of the décor in any normal drinking establishment.

4) When you left the UK for your holiday in Spain you were used to greeting people with a handshake or a nod. These days not giving every new acquaintance ‘dos besos’ (two kisses) seems terribly rude.

5) Since you got home from your latest Spanish holiday, you will only eat lunch after 2pm and would never even think of having your evening meal before 9.

6) You resolve that at 2pm there’s no point in going shopping, you might as well just take a siesta until 5 when things are bound to start getting going again.

7) It occurs to you whilst you’re on yet another cheap Spanish holiday that that the mullet isn’t just an unpleasant memory from the 80s – it is a totally acceptable style choice for the modern youngster.

You don’t see anything wrong with having a couple of beers before lunch if you feel like it – that’s what you did on holiday. Cheap Spanish alcohol was always so tasty in the mornings, after all!

9) After a few too many Spanish holiday knees-ups, you see clapping as an art form and not just a way to express approval. Well – it adds so much to the atmosphere!

10) You have a number of close friends named Jesus, Jose Maria, Maria Jose, Angel, maybe even Inmaculada Concepcion…

But the most important thing to remember when you realise you’ve been on too many cheap Spanish holidays is to just give in and go and book your next one. After all, where else can you feel so relaxed that you take on a whole new lifestyle in the space of a couple of weeks?

For those who find themselves frequently on the road, deciding on a lodging choice should be carefully thought out. Depending on whether you’re traveling for business or pleasure, you need to decide if an apartment or hotel is best for you.

For the single traveler, a simple room is usually preferred, nothing fancy or too big. There are plenty of cheap motels and hotels which offer a room at a reasonable price. How to Get to Baguio City, Philippines

Baguio City is approximately 240 kilometers north of Manila, the Philippines’ capital city. It is accessible via a 45 minute plane ride from the Ninoy Aquino International Airport via daily Asian Spirit flights. However, as weather conditions can sometimes make air travel unreliable, land travel has always been most popular means of getting to Baguio City, the Summer Capital of the Philippines.

Baguio City, known also as the City of Pines, is one of the top Philippine destinations, favored by both foreign and local visitor for its lovely natural environment and temperatures that are generally 8 degrees lower than other Philippine locations.

To get to Baguio City by private transport, one first takes the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) via the Balintawak entrance, which is accessible from the premier Metro Manila highway known as EDSA.

The NLEX is about 80 kilometers in length that ends in the province of Pampanga. However, a new road way known as the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) was inaugurated in 2008 that bypasses several busy towns of Pampanga and Tarlac provinces, cutting travel time considerably.

The SCTEX may be accessed via Exit 85 at the NLEX and one travels another 40 kilometers of smooth roads with several options to reach MacArthur Highway, which is also known as the North Luzon Highway, a major road that leads northwards to the base of Kennon Road or Marcos Highway, which are both mountain zigazag access roads to Baguio City.

One travels the length of the SCTEX exiting at Tarlac City, passing through a 10km access road to get to MacArthur Highway. Another option would be to take an earlier exit that is marked Hacienda Luisita that has a shorter and wider access road to MacArthur Highway. Using this alternative SCTEX exit, though, will cause travelers to pass through the heart Tarlac City, which can at times experience heavy traffic.

Once on MacArthur Highway, one turns northward, passing through the smaller towns of Tarlac province, the length of Pangasinan province until reaching the base of Kennon Road and Marcos Highway (entry point to Marcos Highway is about 500 meters from that of Kennon Road’s) in Rosario, La Union.

High-powered vehicles generally opt to pass Marcos Highway to get to Baguio City because it is a smoother, more reliable, all-weather road, although oldtimers prefer to pass beautiful Kennon Road with its gentler curves and bends and the many waterfalls visible along the way.

It is suggested that one fuel up at the gas stations in Rosario, La Union prior to climbing the zigzag roads. These stations also provide road access advisory boards indicating road conditions for your reference.

Travel time to Baguio City takes anywhere from 4 to 6 hours by private transport depending on whether one travels during the day or at night. Night travel is faster, because there is less lowland traffic, but is only recommended for those already familiar with the route.
