I have had, and used, this mic for several years, and have been satisfied with it. Two things I’ve learned over the years, though. You really need a windscreen on this mic, even if used indoors. Why? The ‘ppp’ and ‘ttt’ popping sound from the interviewee. And, and this is critical, you must make sure the mic is threaded properly on the talent’s top.

With a lav mic, one doesn’t want the mic cord to show. (I’ve done it the wrong way and it looks tacky.) So, you thread it up the talent’s top (or, rather, you have them thread the mic up). Here’s where it can go all wrong. The mic must be positioned so the head (even with the windscreen) doesn’t have a CHANCE of rubbing against clothing.

I just did an interview, and I used the windscreen to good effect. However, the talent was a ‘mover and shaker’ while being interviewed, and the windscreen touched the clothing on and off. And boy do you notice it!

It’s a trade-off, then, with this mic. If you don’t use a windscreen, you’ll hear disturbing pops from hard consonants; if you do, you have to make very, very sure the windscreen doesn’t touch clothing at any point. And try to discourage the talent from gesturing wildly, or bouncing up and down in his seat.

It’s a mixed bag, and recommended with those caveats in mind.
