Weslo Treadmill Review – Are Weslo Treadmills a Good Buy For You?

Considering a Weslo treadmill? Weslo Cadence treadmills are some of the most popular budget treadmills on the market today. You can usually find them at a variety of places including department stores and online.

But are they a good buy for you? Here’s a brief overview of Weslo home treadmills along with the strengths and weaknesses of the brand to help you make up your mind.

Weslo is owned and manufactured by ICON Health and Fitness, one of the largest producers of treadmills in the world. They also own brands like Epic, Image, Healthrider, Proform, Nordic Track and Reebok.

Weslo offers both manual and motorized treadmills with a range of options like Heart Rate Monitors, handweights, iFit compatibility, foldability, adjustable inclines and more.

Strengths:

1) Affordable – Weslo models are definitely affordable for the home gym on a budget. Starting from around $249 for a motorized treadmill and $99 for a manual treadmill you really can’t find a cheaper treadmill than a Weslo.

Weslo has also introduced a few higher end models in the $700+ range that give you even more options than their budget treadmills like more workout programs, better cushioning and stronger motors.

2) Manual Treadmills – If you’re looking for a manual treadmill, you’ll probably consider a Weslo. Weslo offers some of the most popular manual treadmills for sale with adjustable inclines and large LCD displays.

3) Solid Brand Name – In this uncertain economy, some smaller fitness equipment manufacturers have already had to file for bankruptcy protection.

Since Weslo is a part of the largest fitness equipment manufacturer in North America, you can be fairly certain that they’ll be around for a while in case you need to service your treadmill.

Weaknesses:

1) Just as price can be a strength, it can also be a weakness. You just can’t build a high quality treadmill for this price. Most Weslo models are basic treadmills with bare bones features. And they’re definitely not recommended for heavy use or running.

2) Most treadmills offer poor warranties of around 90 days – which doesn’t give you much protection on your investment.

3) In terms of walking space, Weslo treadmills have some of the smallest treadbelts on the market (for example the Weslo Cadence C32 is around 15 x 45″). While this does give you a very compact treadmill, in my opinion, it isn’t really safe. Especially if you’re tall, you’ll feel like you’re falling off the treadmill.

4) Most Weslo models do not offer one-touch incline (where you push a button while walking and the incline automatically increases or decreases). You have to adjust the incline manually, which can be a pain if you’re used to doing intervals while working out.

Conclusion:

While Weslo makes some of the most economical treadmills on the market, they are the most basic of basic treadmills with small walking space, short warranties and bare-bones features.

Considering this, these treadmills are probably not best for runners, frequent walkers or taller users. If you’re on a strict budget they may be sufficient for infrequent and very light walking. But don’t expect them to last very long under heavy use.

If you can afford to spend a bit more, there are other economy brands that give you more in terms of motor power, belt size, construction quality and warranty. But it’s really up to you and depends on your situation, budget and size restrictions.

Camshaft : A Go For Gold

Camshaft, in its simplest definition, are the lobes in an engine that operate the valves. It is driven by a crankshaft, either through a belt, gears or chains that run at one half the speed of its own. It also facilitates the opening and closing of these valves in all piston engines.

Getting a wrong camshaft is like wasting all your efforts on a dollar per dollar basis. Don’t just be blinded by other engine management that of the electronic kind. No other single modification can come up with the same quality of function a camshaft can provide when it comes to cost-wise efficiency, power and driveability.

So, you’re in for camshaft hunt? Here are some helpful tips you can take note of in getting a camshaft.

1. Camshaft for a resto or resto mod project

If you’re going to get a cam for a resto or resto mod project, try to focus on its factory specs and do restoration by figures. Most camshaft company dealers will provide you with catalogs and amazing tech lines to help you pick the best camshaft.

Information regarding recommendations for the changes that will fit the camshaft like high stall torque converter, larger carburetor or exhaust headers, peak torque and a usable power hand and other related concerns should be answered and provided for by the company.

2. Camshaft for Vintage Engines

Take pride in upscaling the power and efficiency of your vintage engine, while camshafts let you take advantage of more modern grinds that creates more torque and horsepower by repetitive open and close motion of the values faster within the same specified duration.

While tip #3 teaches you so much about limits, modification and camshaft duration, do not forget and try to overlook its centerline, or what other people refer to as lobe separation angle.

Performance wise, it is one vital part that adds plus points to the camshaft‘s totality, to shape up a balanced combination of power and fuel efficiency. Standardized resto cams aim for 110 to 112 degree centerlines.

As for drag race cams, theirs is set on a 104 to 106 degree centerline, designed to produce a bit more on the mid-range torque, but would often times require a lot more other mods to begin with.

5. Camshaft Value Lift

As I’ve mentioned in tip #3, value lifts are the primary contributing factors to a camshaft‘s duration.

But although value lifts is one camshaft spec to go look after, it sets physical limit in things like value-to-piston clearance and value spring retainer-to-value guide clearance and value spring coil bind issues.

In this field, camshaft experts says it is always a go for the gold to target .450 to .475 inches of maximum value lift, especially for a modern v8s. For best results, ask assistance from your cam manufacturers to know details regarding physical measures of these things with critical dimension.

6.Camshaft Grind

Who says only singers could sing? Hey, camshafts can do it too!

Espresso at Home – Making Great Latte

Making a good latte is relatively easy, but requires a bit of touch, experience and understanding. Many of the most common mistakes are not easily avoided unless you know what to do, and don’t do.

Naturally, you need to make a cup of espresso, but stop – prepare but don’t make your espresso until you are done with the most important part of a latte success – the milk.

For a latte, you need steamed milk. Almost every espresso machines comes with a steam pipe to help you steam your milk for your latte or latte. There are a few other ways to steam/foam milk, but with the right knowledge you are better off using the steam pipe.

So, the first trick in order to get the perfect milk foam for your latte is to know how long it takes for your espresso machine to heat a particular amount of milk to the right temperature. The second trick is to know how to use the steam pipe when steaming the milk.

To steam milk, follow the following steps.

When the espresso machine has reached the right temperature, turn on the steam to empty the water that sits in the pipe. When no water is coming out of the steam pipe, turn the steam off.
Poor the right amount of milk into a stainless steel pitcher.
Lower the nozzle under the milk surface and turn on the steam. Be careful not to raise the nozzle above the surface – this will give you large bubbles instead of the desired small ones.
Slowly raise the nozzle to just under the surface. Again, be careful not to raise it above the surface of the milk!
Keep steaming the milk until you have the right amount of foam and the pitcher is getting just a little to warm for your hand. If you have enough foam but the milk is a little to could, lower the nozzle deeper into the milk. This will heat the milk without creating any foam.
When you are satisfied, turn off the steam and take the pipe out of the milk.

OK, just a few more steps before you are finished.Now, Start making the espresso you prepared before steaming the milk and poor it into a cup and then add the right amount of steamed milk according to your taste.
