American Dreams (Feat. Michael Brecker, Brad Mehldau & Brian Blades) : “Dédié à tous ceux qui rêvent encore d’une société capable de compassion et d’intelligence créative”, American Dreams, album concept signé Charlie Haden, est pour lui l’occasion de se pencher une fois encore sur son passé. Une partie des thèmes rassemblés ici ont d’ailleurs été écrits par Ornette Coleman, Keith Jarrett et Pat Metheny, des musiciens avec lesquels le contrebassiste a souvent joué au cours de sa carrière. Haden a également enregistré avec Michael Brecker mais jamais dans le cadre de ses propres albums. C’est chose faite, le saxophoniste ténor, plus solide que jamais, ayant ici Brad Mehldau et Brian Blade pour autres partenaires. Un orchestre de trente-quatre musiciens rejoint parfois le quartette, Alan Broadbent (pianiste du Quartet West), Jeremy Lubbock et Vince Mendoza se partageant les arrangements de ce recueil de ballades. Des cordes dosées avec modération, qui viennent discrètement souligner quelque envolée lyrique, bercer quelque songe suggéré par la vaste Amérique. –Pierre de Chocqueuse

i have seen the dvd of the Jacksons, it was a great movie, a great story, i would recommend this to anyone, people need to see this movie, i now want to go out and buy all Jackson five songs.

One of the best movies I own in my library! Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs and Angela Bassett did an extraordinary job in playing the parts of Joe and Katherine Jackson. It depics just how the Jacksons were raised in their small house in Gary, Indiana and how they grew to popularity. It’s long, but very entertaining. I’ve watched the movie over and over – shows just how much I like it. If you like the Jacksons, this movie is for you.
: The miniseries The Jacksons: An American Dream begins in the 1940s, when Joseph Jackson (Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs) and Katherine (Angela Bassett) meet and fall in love, and ends in the 1980s, when their sons reunite for the 1983 Victory Tour that brought them back together as the Jacksons. During the first part, “The Early Years,” the couple starts a family, and although times are tough, Joseph still finds time to play music on the side. When he discovers that his sons have inherited the same talent, the Jackson 5 are born. They sign with Motown and start churning out the gold records. The second part, “The Success Years,” begins in 1970 at the peak of their fame, but by 1976, the hits have started to dry up. If the acting is uneven and the story somewhat sanitized, Bassett is affecting, and the series includes Emmy-winning choreography and a combination of original and re-created material, ranging from “I Want You Back” (1969) to Michael Jackson’s “Beat It” (from 1982′s multi-platinum Thriller). –Kathleen C.
