Accident and Cell Phone Driving Statistics in the United States

Humans through evolution should continue to support building better breeds as “Survival of the Fittest,” maintain that the weaker counterparts will have fewer chances of reproductions. However such theory remains argumentative since a diverse breed of humans makes the world go round. Take for example if all humans are similar in likeness just like you and me, then we will have no talented musicians, no great authors, no bright engineers or doctors assuming that we are none of the above. The world will indeed be a boring place to live in. Then there are some people who are born to take bold decision while others are risk averse. Some are naturally good at multi-tasking especially the fairer gender yet others are only able to do things one at a time.
We may try to keep our survival rate high by keeping ourselves out of danger but we are constantly taking on risk and at the same time cannot avoid others from endangering our lives. Take for example cell phone driving or attempting cell phone text messaging while driving. We could perform such functions and thought accidents could never happen to us since we have done it countless of times.
The findings by Virginia Tech Driving Institute on July 29, 2009 show that statistics accidents by cars and trucks users, distraction caused by dialing cell phone increases the risk of accident driving incidents by 2.8 times. Distraction caused by cell phone text messaging while driving increases the risk of accidents driving incidents by 23.2 times in comparison to normal driving conditions.
According to the Governors Highway Safety Association (GHSA), as of September 2009, a total of 18 states including District of Columbia have effectively banned all drivers from cell phone text messaging while driving. However, many people are still doing it, taking their chances against the law while endangering themselves and the lives of other road users and pedestrians.
For example, the new regulation under the California Department of Motor Vehicle comes into effect on January 1, 2009 against cell phone text messaging while driving. Similarly, prohibition for using cell phone while driving was effectively in place since July 1st 2009. The California law also denies teens under the age of 18 with valid driving license from using hands-free devices while driving. Whereas, a total ban is enforced for all age group from performing cell phone text messages while driving. Yet, we still find a lot of drivers continue text messaging since they can keep the cell phone out of sight and away from the window. Some drivers will attempt to perform a quick cell phone text messaging while stationery waiting for traffic light to turn green. The total ban on teenagers under the age of 18 with valid license means they will try to evade the laws by text messaging since they are not allowed to use hand-free while driving. To further complicate the issue, enforcing total ban on cell phone text messaging also mean drivers will always be on the look out for enforcement through their rear mirror while text messaging, which comes back to the very cause of accidents.
The main reason for total ban on cell phone text messaging while driving is because drivers will have to constantly take their eyes off the road. Therefore, even if adult age 18 years and above have the liberty of making hands free calls they will still have to keep their eyes off the road when dialing. Headsets and Bluetooth can only minimize our eyes off the road unless every driver start using voice activated automatic dialing. Realistically, its takes a while searching through ones cell phone directories to send a text message. Will this ask for the laws to be enforced on all cellular phone manufacturer that every cell phones must have voice assisted dialing functions! For single drivers under the age of 18, the reason for chatting with their friend on cell phone is to keep then awake while driving. Disallowing hands-free for this age group actually increase the risk of accidents for such drivers. Of course, they are suppose to refrain from driving if they feel tired but not all teenagers abide by the books while some rebellious teenagers take it as challenge against the authority while others are plain ignorant of the laws in place. Perhaps the current laws provided regulations aim to keep cell phone driving or cell phone text messaging accidents to a minimal but this does not fully eliminate risk of highway accidents while driving and using cell phone.
We may be quick in adapting to text messaging or talking on the cell with one hand holding it to the ear but there are numerous risk that does not fall into any regulatory category such as checking on your teeth with the rear view mirror while driving or adjusting your hair and operating car radio to quote a few example.
For whatever reasons we need to make calls or text messaging, there are many more reasons that can cause highway accidents while driving. For example keeping unrestrained pets in the vehicle which I will discuss in another article, slowing down and keeping your eyes on just happen accident, driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, avoiding road animals, driving beyond speed limit and irresponsible driving to name a few.

Railroad Tycoon 3 Won’t run on Vista basic – Huskerfan – Nebraska USA
Railroad Tycoon 3 won’t run on Vista basic. I’ve downloaded four patches and nothing works. Vista will open the game to the menu for a few seconds and then the menu disappears and a message appears that says, in effect, the game won’t run. Big bummer.

You bring out your wireless and begin complaining to your friends about the situation, alerting them to where you are in case you need emergency resuscitation. On the other hand if you were in an Aptera Motors transport, you could be manipulating yourself out of that fix in no time at all.
What is an Aptera Motor
Aptera Motors has revolutionized the concept of automobile in the 21st century. Their cars are electric hybrids that if recharged every 120 miles can come up with a fuel efficiency of 300 mpg or 0.78 L/100 km at 55 mph more or less. Acceleration to 60 takes 10 seconds more or less. Their cars are named for the ability to “fly without wings”. The word “aptera” is derived from a Greek phrase meaning “wingless”. On June 24, 2008 the position of Chief Marketing Officer was filled by Tony Kirton a renowned international marketing expert who had worked for Audi, Volkswagen and BMW. On October, 2008, Engineer Tom Reichenbach, responsible for the Ford GT and the Shelby GT, was hired as Aptera Motors’ s Vehicle Engineering Manager.
Aptera Motors 2 Series
The Aptera 2 Series, priced at between $20000 to $40000 is a three-wheeled two-seater. It comes in electric hybrid or totally electric models. Simulations and light-weight composite construction was used to maximize the aerodynamics of the car. It consumes only 69 Wh/mi at 55 mph (89 km/h). This is 50% less than the energy that runs the EV1 electric car. Given this data, the all-electric model should do 120-mile (190 km) ranges on 10 kWh of electricity while the hybrid model promises to be able to run 130 mpg strictly gasoline fed or 300 mpg with repeated recharging every 120 miles.
Safety Statistics and Features of the Aptera 2 Series
In designing the vehicle, safety has been given equal consideration with efficiency. Collision and crush simulation tests have been conducted on the vehicle. The results project a high survival percentage equal to that of conventional automobiles. Real world crash tests have yet to be done. Roof-mounted solar panels energize a heat pump for cold weather and is a feature of the climate control. I also has keyless ignition and entry. A touch screen computer can be used for entertainment, messaging, audio chat. It features location maps for navigation. Evidently, the Aptera 2 series is well worth its cost in terms of investment and amenities.
The Aptera Motors Vehicle is Not a Car?
Aptera Motors was denied a loan by the Federal Government on March 11, 2009 on the basis of the ruling issued by the Department of Energy that the Aptera thee-wheeler is not a car. The reduction in the number of wheels implemented on this vehicle was for aerodynamic efficiency. The tires of four-wheeled vehicles dramatically reduces their efficiency because of the additional weight which, together with the increased friction increases aerodynamic drag. The Aptera vehicle is designed for energy efficiency and maneuverability, hence its three wheels. Apart from this issue, the Aptera vehicle performs as well and is more efficient energy-wise that conventional cars of more or less the same size.
President Obama Declares the Aptera Vehicle is a Car
The Aptera Motors vehicle is now officially recognized as a car. This is in accordance with the ruling of Pres. Obama concerning high-efficiency automobiles. Previously the Aptera Motor company was barred from making loans from the Federal government. With this development, the management expects the Aptera 2 to run the highways next year. Mass production should be ongoing by 2010 but the management want to contain the prices at their present range of between $25000 to $40000. So early next year, depending on how this car sells, we may see huge cuts in gasoline consumption and a great easing of traffic.
What does the Aptera 2 look like?
The shape of the Aptera 2 has been compared to a teardrop. Its front tapers downward while the back fans out like a bird’s tail in shape. Outside it is approximately the size of a Honda Civic. It has two comfortable front seats and no back seats. The space in the back can be used for luggage and can accomodate up to 22 medium-sized grocery bags. It has got both air-conditioning and a heater. Missing a transmission the motor directly powers the front wheels. At $20000 to $45000, the car may be too expensive for an Ev but it is definitely worth the cost in environmental cleanliness.
The Aptera Motor Car costs much less than a Toyota
Although the cost of the Aptera car is high for an Ev vehicle, it is way cheaper than conventional diesel or gasoline cars. Which is only natural because Toyota stands to make more in a month than they would in one whole year. The price is too competitively low if you consider that could be a very real alternative to fuel-driven cars. The price will virtually outbid the older models. The Aptera manufacturers have to watch out though for bad press generated by manufacturers of conventional automobiles. The success of this car will depend on the choices of people who understand the meaning, not only of clean and green, but also of maneuverability and low cost in this century with its escalating population of people and automobiles and skyrocketing expenses.
The Latest Update on the Aptera 2
The Aptera 2 will be maximized for safety and staying power. It is an improvement on the Type 1 in many ways. The first type was run by a belt driven rear wheel, the Aptera 2 runs by its front wheels to balance weight distribution and minimize traction. Conventional rear-view mirrors have been brought back in instead of the rear-view cameras and the side doors have been widened for ease of getting in and out. Additional features have been added, like the climate control powered by solar power cells on the roof. It also has a stereo player and convenient slide-down windows.
