Audioengine AW2 Premium Wireless Adapter for iPod Audiophile quality – sanjtibet –
Been using this beauty for a week and am completely blown away by the improvement in sound quality over the wired option. Mind you, I’m using pricey van den hul silver interconnects to connect my ipod to a pair of audioengine A2 speakers. (NO I don’t work for the company!) . Ever since I moved over to ipods from my regular cd based system, I found I was listening less and less to music because of the generally lacklustre sound from the ipod. But listening to keith Jarett’s Paris concert recorded on apple lossless via the AW 2′s and my ipod was a revelation. The highs were brilliant, the mids lacked coloration and the bass was tight. Yes! I can listen to my music again!!

Why is this so? Probably because the the internal sound card/dac in the ipod is bypased (so I think, I’m no techno freak)
Oh, yes, and you do get the added comfort of wireless sound. The sound broke up at around 15 feet away into the adjoining room. The one bummer is that it does drain the ipod’s battery. My nano lasted about two whole albums, the 160 gb does a bit better at 4 whole albums. A minor niggle considering the vast improvement in sound quality and wireless portability. Kudos to Audioengine for a fine product. Well worth every dollar.

For weeks I’ve been searching for quality self powered speakers for my new computer. Today I found, sampled, and purchased
these fantastic AudioEngine 2′s. The dealer didn’t need to hype this system, he simply played a music CD and that was it !! SOLD !

M-Audio Studiophile AV 20 Portable Desktop Speaker System Excelent for dorm rooms. – KR – Washington DC
I bought these speakers about 6 months back. I was initially impressed with the sound as it was in my Dorm. We later had a party in a large open room and these speakers produced excellent music. They produce great sound, I listen to techno and its hard to come by speakers that can support techno. You can clearly feel the bass and also hear distinct sounds. These are great for a dorm room as well as large spaces. For serious music listeners I would recommend the AV 40 as they are much better and can handle larger ranges of sounds.

Recently the left speaker has stopped working and I have been trying to get it fixed for about a week and a half now and it does not help when there are not many service centers around. So that’s a down side with M Audio. and with the price I would highly suggest you go in for a different one at this price like a 2.1 as they will be much better.

However if you are a student looking for speakers for your dorm room or apartment, I would highly recommend these as they have the ability to let your neighbors know you are having a party when the volume is at 50%.
