FullForce: A clever little extension that installs to the iPad's settings screen. From there, you can designate iPhone apps—the ones that haven't been properly adapted for the iPad yet—to stretch out to the iPad's resolution. I'm not talking about pixel doubling, either: apps employ native UI elements, and scale dynamically.

The success rate isn't spectacular, and it rarely works with games. That said, apps like Facebook and NYTimes (which has much more content than the iPad NYT app) scale perfectly, and fill a need. FullForce works on most jailbreak apps, too, including a few in this guide.

iPad News: Apple iPad, and iPad 3G, Outselling Macs

Apple’s iPad is without a doubt the hottest product in the tech market at the moment. In fact, Apple’s iPad is so hot that there are iPad supply shortages here in the United States. These iPad supply shortages stem from Apple falling short of their demand projections – meaning, Apple simply didn’t expect to be selling iPad in such massive numbers like they’ve been doing since the iPad release date here in the US.

iPad Outselling Macs

One of the more amazing statistics to emerge since the release of the iPad and iPad 3G is that the Apple is actually selling more iPads than they are Macs. Macs are literally the cornerstone (or have been anyway) to the Apple dynasty, and yet now we have iPads actually outselling the Macs.

According to All Things Digital, Apple is selling more than 200,000 iPads per week. Which means, according to RBC Capital Markets analyst Mike Abramsky, that sales of the company’s new device have outpaced those of the Mac in the United States and are closing in on those of the iPhone 3GS.

“Checks indicate that US iPad sales remain strong post-launch, driven by rising consumer visibility to iPad’s user experience, sustained PR/word-of-mouth marketing, 3G iPad launch, and broadening iPad apps/content,” Abramsky wrote in a note to clients this morning. “We believe Apple is now selling >200k iPads/week, greater than US Macs (est. 110k Macs/week) and just below US iPhone 3GS first quart (246k/week).”

iPad hasn’t even launched internationally yet

Even more amazing is that the iPad doesn’t get released internationally until May 28th – about 7 days from now. The international community has been “very impatiently” waiting for Apple to fix their supply side issues with the iPad so they can get their hands on the new iPad and iPad 3G.

Although at this point, I can’t image the international community not wanting to go right to an iPad 3G versus the first generation iPad that is only Internet accessible via WiFi hotspots.

So what can we expect to Apple’s sales figures once the iPad and iPad 3G are launched internationally?

Jetzt war es endlich soweit ! Ein tolles Hundebett muß her!!! Ich war es Leid, das er immer meinen Stammplatz auf der Coach besetzt. Was sind unsere Kaufkriterin für ein Hundekissen, damit unser Flohtaxi es auch gemütlich hat? Dafür sollte es groß genug sein, damit er ganz draufpasst und abwaschbar, falls er mal sabbert.
Also ging es  los unser Bummeltour auf der Suche nach dem richtigen Hundebett.

Wir fanden auch ein tolles, leider war der Laden am anderen Ende der Stadt
und so haben wir beschlossen, eins im Internet zu bstellen.
(Danke der Beratung im Laden wußten wir ja was wir wollten, wir hätten auch sehr gerne dort gekauft, aber wenn die nicht liefern … selbst Schuld)

Auf jeden Fall hat es unser Hund, jetzt richtig gut auf seinem Hundebett.

If you’re a coffee addict, then you’ve gone through your fair shar of disposable coffee cups.  Now instead of trashing them constantly and contributing to the local dump’s size, you can use those cups to add a little bit of lighting in your home.  Then after the project is finished you’ll have a very modern looking disco ball.  To get one you’ll just have to follow the Instructables tutorial and make your own.

They suggest using the plain cheap coffee cups that you see most often in order to construct the light.  You’ll actually need a grand total of 300 of the cups.  Technically the creator caved and just bought the cups, but recycling would work just as well.  You”ll also need a stapler, electric wire with socket, energy efficient lamp, pinbolds, big washer, small washer, a heatsource and a sharp metal pen.  All together none of that should cost you a whole lot of money.

• 1. Place pot on a dry, flat, nonslip surface. Hold handle firmly, then pull the plunger straight up and out of the pot.

  2. For each 1.25-deciliter/4-ounce cup, put 1 rounded tablespoon or 1 Bodum scoop of coarse-ground coffee into the pot.

  
  Caution: Use only coarse-ground coffee. Fine grind can clog the filter and create high pressure. Place coffee maker on a heatproof, nonslip surface.

  3. Pour hot (not boiling) water into the pot. Leave a minimum of 2.5 centimeters/1 inch of space at the top. Stir the brew with a plastic spoon.
  

  Caution: Metal spoons can scratch or chip the glass beaker and cause breakage.

  4. Place the plunger unit on top of the pot. Turn lid to close off the pour spout opening. (Does not apply to the Brazil models.) Do not press down. Let the coffee brew for at least 4 minutes.

  5. Hold the pot handle firmly, with the spout turned away from you, then using just the weight of your hand, apply slight pressure on top of the knob to lower the plunger straight down into the pot. Lowering the plunger slowly with minimal pressure produces best results. If the filter clogs or it becomes difficult to push down the plunger you should remove the plunger from the pot, stir the brew, and then slowly plunge again.
  

  WARNING: Using excessive force can cause scalding liquid to shoot out of the pot.

  6. Turn the lid to open the pour spout and then pour coffee.

  7. Unscrew the filter assembly and clean the plunger unit after each use. All parts are dishwasher-safe.

  Company History
  

  In 1944 Peter Bodum, the father of today's owner, Joergen Bodum, started Bodum in Copenhagen. Times were difficult at the end of World War II; there was hardly any trade and people were out of work. Peter Bodum managed to wholesale a very small variety of housewares products by Danish manufacturers.

  After the war Peter Bodum got an import license for kitchen and tabletop products; he traveled all over Europe and ended up importing kitchen and housewares to Denmark. As in the rest of Europe in those days, a lack of products in Denmark meant a market existed for almost anything to be sold. He specialized in glassware from Eastern Europe.

  In the '50s Peter Bodum started developing his own products. He collaborated with the Danish architect Kaas Klaeson for a range of coffeemakers. At the time, industrial-design-type kitchen products were very rare. The first Bodum product to hit the market in 1958 was the Santos coffeemaker–based on a vacuum coffee brewing system. It became an instant sensation not only in Denmark but in all of Europe. Bodum still produces the original Santos design to this very day.

  Bodum grew steadily during the '60s, but sadly, in 1967, at the age of only 57, Peter Bodum passed away. His wife managed the company until 1974, when she offered her 26-year-old son Joergen to join her in the management of the company. Joergen quickly brought on board Carsten Joergensen–then a teacher at the Danish School of Art in Copenhagen–and soon put him in charge of overall design for Bodum, including everything from products to corporate design, exhibitions, shops, buildings, catalogs, and advertising. It turned out to be a very long and fruitful collaboration. The two men began to fulfill Bodum's credo–”good design doesn't have to be expensive”–in lots of different ways.

  In 1974 the first fruit of Joergen and Carsten's collaboration was introduced: the French coffee press Bistro. It was also the first incorporation of the new Bodum design language–beautiful simplicity and excellent materials for everyday life. Many more variations of coffee presses followed. Since 1974 Bodum has produced over 50 million French presses, taken the leap from “coffee” to “kitchen,” and developed and produced a large variety of beautiful household and tabletop designs.

  In 1979, when he took over the company, Joergen Bodum decided to move to Switzerland in order to be more centrally located in Europe. He chose the Lucerne area, where Bodum's head office has been located since the early '80s.

  In 1980 Bodum Switzerland and its design unit, Pi-Design, were founded. Then, in 1986, the opening of Bodum's first shop in London marked another milestone in the Bodum history. It was designed not only to be the perfect showcase for the large variety of Bodum products but to embody an even stronger presentation of Bodum as an international brand. Many more shops in many more cities all over the world followed: Paris, Copenhagen, Zurich, Lucerne, Tokyo, New York, Dallas, Okinawa, Auckland, and many more. To this day there are 52 Bodum stores worldwide.

  With more and more of its own stores in place, Bodum continued broadening its collection of beautifully designed everyday life products–from kitchen to home.   If Toronto is smart, they’ll trade Calderon and move Jack to the starting lineup.  Is Toronto GM Bryan Colangelo smart?  The media thinks so, but we’re talking about a guy that just gave Hedo Turkoglu a Rashard Lewis contract.  Should Toronto move Jack and his $5mil/yr. salary, we may not have an equivalent piece to trade (and they don’t need Maxiell), but it could be worth exploring.

  Goodbye, Carlos Boozer.

  Hello, Chris Bosh.

  This is not as far-fetched as it might seem. See, both players are going to become unrestricted free agents this summer.

  Although he is without a doubt an All-Star caliber player, Boozer’s time in Utah has come to an end.

  There already has been talk about the Jazz resigning him to a new long-term contract, and in the coming weeks and months there is sure to be more of the same. It’s true, Boozer did a nice job for the Jazz this season, even after a rather dicey offseason in which he essentially mounted a get-me-out-of-here campaign.

  In the right situation (and against the right opponent) Booz is a dominant big man and a lethal offensive weapon.

  But the Jazz need something more … something different.

  They need Chris Bosh.

  Bosh was in the stands at Staples Center the other night as the Lakers beat the Jazz in Game 2 of their Western Conference playoff series. Rumor is he was in L.A. to get fitted for a new Lakers jersey for next season.

  Speculation is, he’s definitely leaving the Toronto Raptors and that the Lakers are his next stop.

  Maybe so. But the Jazz shouldn’t let this opportunity pass without putting up a fight.

  Rather than attempting to resign Boozer, they need to let him go to the Heat or the Bulls or the Nets or whoever will give him the big-money deal he’s looking for.

  But the Rockets would face a possible dilemma with Luis Scola being a restricted free agent himself. Coming off his best season with averages of 16 points and 8 boards on 52 percent shooting, the Rockets are certainly not lacking talent at the power forward position.

  It’d seem unlikely that he would stay if Bosh were to come to Houston, but Luis recently commented on the situation:

  "Chris Bosh is a great player, an All-Star, a 20-10 guy," said Scola. "I know people who play with him on the same team, and everybody says he’s a great teammate. You always want a great player and a great teammate and a 20-10 guy on your team. Winning is always first."

  We can interpret it different ways or that Scola is being diplomatic about the situation, but would the Rockets be willing to pay him $8-10 million for being a mere backup? As great as Bosh would be, the Rockets would have bigger needs—more specifically a backup center that could step in and start if Yao were to prove unstable once again.

  Then there’s the counter-argument that the Rockets could run a three-man rotation with Scola, Yao, and Bosh, but much like the Raptors and what the Rockets faced last season, the defensive intimidation on the inside would be minimal.

  Frankly the Rockets already have enough scoring, and in a team setting where Bosh would likely take on a lesser offensive role, how much better is Bosh for the Rockets compared to the production Scola provided, especially post All-Star break?

  I think that trading him to Golden State would be the best possible deal for both teams involved; here is how and why.

  To Golden State Warriors: Chris Bosh (PF, 24.0 PPG, 10.8 RPG, 2.4 APG), Fourth Round Draft Pick (2010)

  To Toronto Raptors: Monta Ellis, (G, 25.5 PPG, 4.0 RPG, 5.3 APG), Andris Biedrins (PF, 5.0 PPG, 7.8 RPG, 1.7 APG), Second Round Draft Pick (2010, 35th Overall)

  This deal makes perfect sense for both teams. It could very well benefit both teams and would improve both the Toronto Raptors and the Golden State Warriors. Let’s begin with the Golden State Warriors.

  Giving away Monta Ellis would be okay for the Golden State Warriors because of point guard Stephen Curry, who is on pace to become the next point guard star of the NBA. Curry averaged 17.5 PPG and was nominated for Rookie of the Year. Some even believe that he should have been the one to win the award.

Die Finca El Porvenir (span. ‘die Zukunft’) ist ein Zusammenschluss von Betrieben, die in 1000-1600 m Höhe an den Hängen des Vulkans Cerro El Tigre im Osten El Salvadors Kaffee anbauen und sich besonders für den Erhalt der Tier- und Pflanzenwelt einsetzen.

Bis zur Bewerbung von Finca El Porvenir war so gut wie nichts bekannt über die Tier- und Pflanzenwelt dieser Region, was die NGO SalvaNatura im Frühjahr dieses Jahres zum Anlass genommen hat, eine biologische Inventur durchzuführen. Dabei wurden u.a. vier Vogelarten entdeckt, die nur in wenigen Regionen des nördlichen Mittelamerikas vorkommen, nämliche die Grünkehlnymphe (Lampornis viridipallens) – ein kolibriartiges Vöglein , der Hartlaubblaurabe (Cyanocorax melanocyaneus), der Rostbrauen-Zaunkönig (Troglodytes rufociliatus) sowie der Bindentrupial (Icterus maculialatus). Daneben entdeckten die Biologen im Wald des Finca-Areal verschiedene Vogelarten, die insbesondere in tropischen Nebelwäldern heimisch sind, wie z.B. die Ametystkehlnymphe (Lampornis amethystinus).

Der Coffee Conservation Award 2010 ist mit einem Preisgeld von 1.000 USD, einem hochwertigen Fernglas und einer Spezialreportage im Roast Magazine dotiert.

In den Kommentaren zur Frage des kuriosen (Nicht-)Marketings von David Lynchs “Signature Cup” Organic Coffee & Organic Espresso Whole Bean in meinem Damn Good Coffee!-Post mußmaßte Patrick, daß Lynch absichtlich keine Werbung mache, weil „guter Kaffee kein Massenprodukt sein kann/darf“ und verlinkte zu einem sehr interessanten Clip, in dem Lynch, der auch zahlreiche Werbeclips drehte, sich zum Thema Werbung äußert.

Was Lynch vehement ablehnt, ist nicht Werbung, sondern Product Placement:

I do sometimes commcercials to make money. But I always say, every time I learn something. Efficiency of saying something, and new technologies. But product placement in a film putrefies the environment. It’s so absurd, but it’s happening more and more. What kind of a world is this?

Aber ist Brand/Product-Placement wirklich so schrecklich, wie wir meinen?

Ich persönlich habe zu Product Placement eine pragmatischere Einstellung. Nicht nur Filme, sondern Fiktionen generell als „Welten“, die vollständig produkt- und markenfrei sind, sind grundsätzlich stilisierte Welten. Ich sehe da eine Skala: Am einen Ende der Skala finden sich hyperstilisierte Filmwelten wie die von David Lynch, in denen Brand/Product Placement in der Tat absurd wäre. Am anderen Ende der Skala finden sich Period Pieces, die ohne Brand/Product-Placement absurd wären. Und zwischen diesen Extremen gibt es viele verschiedene Möglichkeiten, sich für oder gegen Brand/Product-Placement zu entscheiden.

Absurd finde ich darüber hinaus, wie „Schleichwerbung“ in der Fiktion vehement bekämpft wird, während der Kampf um die Trennung von journalistischen/redaktionellen Inhalten und PR nur noch für gelegentliche Alibi-Scharmützel taugt — vermutlich, weil niemand zugeben will, daß dieser Krieg längst verloren gegeben wurde und das eigentlich bereits obsolete System nur noch ums nackte Überleben kämpft. Und so richtig absurd finde ich es dann, wenn Design-Schmieden fiktive Marken und Produkte für TV-Serien entwerfen und realisieren, weil eine produkt- und markenlose Welt natürlich absurd wäre, aber echte Produkte und Marken nicht gezeigt werden dürfen.

Warum sollte Brand/Product-Placement keinen Mehrwert haben können?

Zwei Dinge finde ich in diesem Umfeld wichtig. Das eine ist das hundertprozentige Disclosure darüber, welche von den in der Fiktion plazierten Marken und Produkte gesponsort wurden und welche nicht. Das zweite ist der Mehrwert von Brand/Product Placement. Mit „Mehrwert“ meine ich dabei nicht vermehrte Produktionsmittel, sondern den Mehrwert, den das Brand/Product Placement für die Fiktion selbst und für ihre Rezipienten hat.

Wenn die Frage nach dem Mehrwert schlüssig beantwortet werden kann, wenn es absolut klar ist, ob und wo Geld wofür geflossen ist, und wenn die Fiktion auf der genannten Skala in einem Bereich angesiedelt ist, der dies überhaut sinnvoll erscheinen läßt, dann sehe ich absolut keinen Grund gegen Brand/Product-Placement in Fiktionen.

Werbung macht David Lynch für seinen Kaffee übrigens schon, und seit letztem Jahr gibt es den “David Lynch Signature Cup” auf Amazon.com zu kaufen (ich las auch von einem UK-Retailer, aber ich kann ihn nicht mehr wiederfinden).
