Mark Twain was born Samuel Langhorne Clemens on November 30, 1835 in Florida, Missouri. Sam was the sixth of seven children of John and Jane Clemens, with only two of his siblings surviving childhood; his brother Orion and sister Pamela.
When Sam was four years old the family moved to Hannibal, Missouri, a small frontier town on the banks of the Mississippi River. Missouri gained statehood in 1820, and the time of Sam’s youth it comprised a portion of the country’s western border. Missouri was a slave-holding state. The family owned one slave named Jenny. Sam’s uncle also owned several slaves. Sam delighted in the spirituals and tall-tales told by Jenny and in the slave quarters of his uncle. This early influence would serve young Clemens well.
Sam was eleven years old when his father died in 1847. He left school in the fifth grade to work as a printer’s apprentice for a local paper. It was there, while setting type, that Sam got a taste for the news and a sense of the world beyond the small village of Hannibal.
At eighteen, Sam set out for New York and Philadelphia, working for several newspapers and getting some of his first articles published.
But Ol’ Man River was to tug on Clemens’ imagination. In 1857, Sam embarked on his career as a riverboat pilot. Guiding a riverboat down the capricious Mississippi was no easy feat in the mid-nineteenth century. After two years of meticulously learning the ways of the river Sam earned his pilot license.
During his training, Clemons convinced his younger brother Henry to come join him on the river. On June 21st, 1858, the steamboat Henry was working on exploded; a tragic accident that killed Sam’s brother. Ridden with guilt, Sam held himself responsible for Henry’s death for the rest of his life.
Sam’s career as a riverboat pilot came to an end with the start of the Civil War in 1861 when river traffic was halted.
Though a slave state and considered by many as part of the South, Missouri did not join the Confederacy. Clemens and some friends formed a Confederate militia of which he later wrote a short story called The Private History of a Campaign That Failed. The militia joined a battle in which a man was killed. Sam discovered that he had no taste for killing and thus deserted. His friends joined the Confederate army, and Sam was ready for a new chapter in his life.
Answering a call from his older brother Orion, who had just been appointed Secretary of the Nevada Territory, Sam headed west with hopes of striking it rich in Nevada’s silver rush.
As it went for most miners, his dream of riches failed to materialize, so he went back to his journalistic pursuit writing for the Virginia City Territorial Enterprise. It was here that Clemens realized he needed a pseudonym for his emerging voice as a writer. Harking back to his days as a riverboat pilot and the process of periodically measuring the depth of the river, Sam found his new name. When the distance between riverbed and the bottom of the boat became dangerously close the alert would be sounded from the leadsman: “Marrrrk Twain!”
Mark Twain.
And an American Philosopher was born.
Mark Twain first achieved national and international acclaim with a short story entitled Jim Smiley and His Jumping Frog.
A year later Twain was hired by the Sacramento Union to visit and report on his impressions of the Sandwich Islands (modern day Hawaii). The wit and humor of his dispatches further accelerated his celebrity. Upon his return he launched his first lecture tour, and Mark Twain’s career was laid out.
He traveled widely providing his growing audience a sardonic look at the world. His first tour of Europe eventually led to his first book, Innocents Abroad, which led to Twain meeting his future wife, Olivia, to whom he remained married until her death in 1904.
Through his many novels, articles, speeches, and books Mark Twain’s wit and wisdom showed Man as a funny creature, full of contradictions and foibles. Sometimes finding hope in the human condition, and sometimes despair (especially in his later life), Twain usually managed to bring to his observations a gentle humor that to this day helps ease the discomfort of being human.
In 1909 Mark Twain is quoted as saying;
“I came in with Haley’s Comet in 1835. It is coming again next year, and I expect to go out with it. It will be the greatest disappointment of my life if I don’t go out with Haley’s Comet. The Almighty has said, no doubt: ‘Now here are these two unaccountable freaks; they came in together, they must go out together’.”
The following year, on April 21st, 1910 Samuel Langhorne Clemens, known the world over and to this day as Mark Twain, died, riding on the tail of a comet.

Buy a Cheap Orion Telescope

Image : http://www.flickr.com
It won’t be hard to find a cheap Orion telescope. This is because Orion is a very popular manufacturer of telescopes and they often provide models at discounted rates for amateur astronomers. Along with the percentage off, they also sell equipment and accessories for the cheap Orion telescopes.
This kind of service operates in a lot of stores in California. One can also get cheap Orion telescopes in online store. In fact, some manufacturers offer discounts for their customers if they sign up for the product on their homepage.
Orion Telescopes was founded in 1975 by Tim Gieseler. During the mid 90s to 2005, Orion sold binoculars, telescopes, and accessories under the brand that they are known for – which is “Orion“, obviously.
However, since the company was acquired by Imaginova, Orion had to sell non-Orion products such as eyepieces from Televue and accessories for Celestron telescope.
The whole point of a cheap Orion telescope is to make a sale to the customers. They can lure in the amateur astronomers and make them interested in the star-gazing hobby. It is also important to note that there are experienced astronomers who still go for a cheap Orion telescope because they get to save money. They know that as long as they get the features that they are looking for in a telescope, they’re set. That’s what’s important anyway.
Another thing that makes Orion telescopes different from the other brands of telescopes is that they group their telescopes in levels. These are “beginner”, “intermediate”, and “advanced.” The level of the cheap Orion telescope determines which is the right model for the astronomer.
With the levels, he can also determine whether the telescope is what he needs in order to view what he want to see.
There are different mounts to choose from as well. The mounts allow the astronomer to see the scenery better. It may be cheaper, but they still keep up with their reputation of high performance. Orion has two element apochromatic refractors.
These are manufactured in China. The user can adjust the low dispertion of the objective lenses. In doing so, what he is seeing is clearer and he can appreciate it better.
A cheap Orion telescope for terrestrial and astronomical observation are currently sold in the market. The microscopes and the monocular spotting perfumed by the telescope is the best method to use when bird watching.
The resolution of this telescope can be adjusted to reach the stars or just right across the field.
No Second Chance by Harlan Coben – Book Review

Image : http://www.flickr.com
I confess, I have not read a Harlan Coben book before, but I enjoyed this one immensely. If you like John Grisham or Lee Child I suspect that you will relish this book too. This is apparently the tenth book from this writer, which shows he possesses ample staying power.
The book opens with Doctor Marc Seidman being shot in his own home during breakfast and left for dead. His wife Monica is shot dead too. But of course, Marc is not dead, and somehow survives to wake and discover the true horror of the event, culminating in the realisation that his infant daughter has been snatched. But why?
This sets Marc on a long and fraught journey to discover the whereabouts, and indeed the fact, of whether his daughter is still alive. The book is filled throughout with interesting characters and twists and turns aplenty, and the pace rarely slackens.
As I said, I thoroughly enjoyed it, and never once thought of abandoning the read, always a sure sign of a good book written by an accomplished writer. My only slight criticism was the writer’s occasional lapse into becoming too familiar with his reader, “Well, what do you think palsy-walsy?” as Mister Coben might have said, but this was a very minor irritant.
Other than that, this is a very decent book, and it ensured that I will be reading more of the offerings available from Mister Harlan Coben.

Counting Down to Christmas and the Birth of the SUN – Oops I mean SON

Image : http://www.flickr.com
Those familiar with the Worldwide Church of God know that after many years of observing what most would call “Jewish Holidays” but with Christian significance, the Church has now switched to the more generically acceptable Christian holidays, such as Easter and Christmas. In the past, these Spring Equinox, Summer Solstice, Fall Equinox and Winter Solstice holidays were replaced by the recognition of Passover over Easter in the Spring and the Festival of Tabernacles in the Fall over Christmas. While no religious holy day springs from a vacuum, and the Jewish Holy Days, also sprang from the pagan agricultural holidays that preceded them, I wonder if the Worldwide Church of God, and all Christians would be intrigued and challenged to realize just exactly which “Son” was being born on Christmas and why?
Plainly put, the story of Jesus’ one year ministry as described in Mark, Matthew and Luke, is an astrological allegory of the journey the literal SUN takes through the twelve signs of the Zodiac in one year. The journey of the SON/SUN starts at the birth of the SUN and SON in December, brought forth by a virgin of all things, and ends just before Christmas on December 22-24, the time the SUN appears to be “in the grave” prior to being born again on the 25th by moving ever so slightly north again and heading towards spring. Jesus also spent his three days in the grave as we recall.
First of all why would I say that the Virgin brings forth the SUN and the Virgin bringing forth the literal SON of God later in print was not the original story? Because the older phenomenon is the sky story noticed long before it was made literal for the masses. On Christmas day, in particular 2000 years ago when during Jesus time, the Sign of Aries the Lamb was coming to an end, signified by the crucifixion of the Lamb in the Spring, the sky on Christmas morning showed an interesting sight. Just before sunrise, the SUN sits on the horizon about to be “born.” At the zenith, the high point in the sky, at that moment, is the zodiacal constellation of Virgo, the Virgin who is MOST High, MOST Blessed, at that moment the SUN is born. Truly, and anciently, “and the virgin shall bring for the SUN.” The prophecy says that “they shall call his (THE SON) name, Immanuel, which means “God with us.” But the literal SON Jesus was never called Immanuel. However, the real SUN, as SUN of GOD is always Immanuel, always with us. The Bible even says of “God” that His power is from the rising of the sun until the going down there of.” No one thinks this through. God’s power is only good during the day is what this is saying. God’s power ends at sundown according to this scripture. Evidently this SUN GOD has not power after sunset, which of course is the real SUN and not the literalized GOD or SON of GOD. Malachi tells us that the Messiah, but calling him the SUN, “shall arise with healing in his wings.” The wings of the sun are the rays that appear to jet out due to the way humans see the sun when they try to look at it. One of the great symbols of Egypt is the sun disc with great bird wings coming out left and right. It’s an old symbol of how the sun looks to humans.
Let’s move on a bit past the birth of the SUN/Son on Christmas morning. The Gospels say that Jesus was “about 30 years old” when he began his ministry. The SUN/SON was born in December in the sign of Capricorn back then which is the Goat, and may account for some of the Nativity scene animals that were later made literally true in the story. Each House of the Zodiac takes up approximately 30 degrees of the sky (30×12=360). So the SUN also is about 30 when it enters the next sign of the Zodiac in January, which just happens to be the same PERSON Jesus the SON visited when he began his ministry! This would be Aquarius, the Waterman for the SUN but John the Baptizer for Jesus the SON. Same story. One in the sky, one made literal on earth. Same Story! Both SUN and SON are baptized by the Waterman during this month and both increase, that is keep moving towards Spring for the SUN or into his ministry for the SON. Aquarius and John, the Watermen on the other hand, must decrease and while one sets, the other is decapitated. It is no coincidence that when Aquarius appears to rise again six months later at dawn instead of sink at sunset, the head comes up first opposite Leo the Lion, sign of Herod who had him murdered literally. Aquarius, in the morning sunrise looks beheaded by Leo who is going down. Could this be why later in Jesus ministry Herod thinks that John the Baptist is coming back from the dead or had risen, because Aquarius is rising again after going down six months earlier? Is this a heavenly astro-theological tale made literally true?
Also, at sunrise and prior to Christmas day, the three stars in the belt of Orion the Hunter rose vertically and followed the sun across the sky all day, only to loose it in sunset. Every winter morning this scene would progress with the three “Magi” rising higher and earlier each day chasing the SUN/SON. When the story was literalized, it lost it’s common sense. In the literal story we find the Magi saying, “We have seen his star in the east ….” They then proceed to follow it West with it ending up turning south and hovering right over the place where Jesus was. It would be a dumb thing to see a star looking east, watch it go over head in time and then turn west to follow it to Jerusalem. You’d play this game ever night for awhile. First head east, then look up, then turn and head west. I doubt this was the plan of the Magi who could not have been that stupid. However, when not taken literally we have the three stars, neatly aligned in Orion,s Belt rising like hikers in the east and heading west following the SUN or SON that has to be in the West to find. Great astro-theology but a bit funky when made literally true. It might explain why Herod could not see the same Star and had to ask for the Magi to find Jesus for him. It was taking place in the sky, not the palace. A good Gnostic would say “of course, this is where the story comes from.”
Well shortly after Aquarius and John slip off the scene and Jesus goes on his way, he goes immediately into the wilderness to be tempted not to be all he can be by Satan. This would be the SUN, rising from Winter and heading to Spring and then being the Most High at the Summer Solstice, but still weak as it is early in the game. Jesus might still be too young, too weak to continue, so Satan, i.e. Darkness tempts him to be not be Jesus the SON or SUN. The darkness of Winter does not want to go and wants to prevent the SUN/SON from en-lightening the world, or as we might say, Satan does not wish Jesus the SON to take away the sins (darkness) of the world. Darkness in the human psyche is the world of evil and fear…the world of Satan. Jesus as the SON, just like the SUN might just overcome the darkness of winter and Satan if he can’t be disuaded at this weak time of his cycle.
But alas, you can’t stop the seasons, so Jesus and the SUN go to Spring and Easter, which is the time when the SUN has the same strength as the dark, when day and night are Equi-nox or Equal Nights. It’s Easter because the SUN rises due east and gives SON worshippers a direction in which to pray on Easter morning. Satan is well on the way to being defeated with the SUN/SON being crucified literally in Aries the Lamb, (April-Easter) which Jesus was also called and the SUN in Aries the Lamb as sign of the Zodiac. For the SUN the crucifixion takes place where the Celestial Equator crosses the Ecliptic and the Sun sits right on the intersection of it at Easter, and for Jesus it happens, same time in Jerusalem, literally.
It is not coincidence that the Age of Aries the Lamb, which ended with the SUN moving into PICES due to the progression of the equinox every 2190 years or so, around the time of Jesus coincides with the death of the Lamb of God, the Son, Jesus. It is a symbol. “Behold, I am with you, even unto the end of the age,” said Jesus. This was not the end of the world as some think, but the Lamb Jesus would be with them until the end of the astrological age of Aries and then Pices the Fish would begin. It is also no coincidence that the symbol for the SON/SUN’s Church is the fish, nor that in the age of Pices Christians were to be “fishers of men.” The fishing motif in the Gospels is all about the age of Aries ending around the time of Jesus and the Age of Pices, the Fishes, beginning. It is no coincidence that right after Jesus overcame Satan, he went to Galilee, which means “circuit” as in circuit of the SON, or SUN depending on which location you are seeing the story in, he meets TWO FISHERMEN, Peter and Andrew and makes them Disciples. Jesus making his circuit all around Galilee, which means “circuit,” with his 12 disciples surround him, is no different than the SUN making it’s circuit (Galilee) surrounded by it’s 12 zodiacal disciples. The Sign of Pices is that of two fish. It is not coincidence that in the feeding of the multitudes, there were TWO Fish and five loaves symbolizing the five known planets of the time, Mars, Mercury, Venus, Jupiter and Saturn.
Well there is much more. When Jesus as SON stood on the mount of transfiguration in the summer of his one year ministry, his face shone like the SUN at noon. This is because this earthly event is the literal fact in the cosmos that in June, the summer Solstice finds the SUN at its highest, being the MOST HIGH for the year and brilliant light. Jesus, standing on that “high mountain” in summer, face shining like the sun was doing what the SUN was doing as well as MOST HIGH right over his head. This is not coincidence either. From June, it is all down hill for the SUN and for Jesus the SON. Cancer the crab, which moves backwards and is for July and August symbolizes that the SON and SUN were going backwards now to their fate. Jesus is betrayed in the Fall by Judas, that scorpion, just as the SUN is stung and betrayed by Scorpio in its dive to oblivion in December. The Archer then takes over as Sagittarius, just as the mob does and both SUN and SON are pierced. They die in late December appearing to be gone and as the SUN lies for three days in the southern hemisphere, considered the grave and appears to neither go further south, nor come back north, so Jesus lies three days as the SON of GOD in the grave. This is December 22-24, the Winter Solstice, But it’s all good. One December 25th the SUN and SON are born and brought forth by the Virgin Mary or the Virgin Virgo overhead and the cycle starts again.
Pretty cool huh? Ever hear that in Church? You won’t. But realize, the SUN that rises and sets everyday around the planet, while holding little attention of modern busy men and women today, was THE source of all religion on the planet. Because the greatest fear men have and have had in history is fear of the dark. Dark was evil and so became “The Evil” or “De-evil or Devil. Just as the SUN of GOD overcomes the darkness as it makes it’s one year rise and fall from birth to death, so Jesus as the literalized SON of GOd, overcomes the Devil and delivers us from darkness too. The story that is literally true happens in the cosmos, over your head every minute of every day, month and year. The more suspect one, made literally true, is what you hear in Sunday school….Hey! SUN DAY School!!!!!!!

Get Double Glazing Installed and Not Only Save Money But Help Save the Planet

Image : http://www.flickr.com
Whenever you open the local newspaper the obligatory flyers usually fall out, sometimes including an advert from the neighbourhood’s window installation company. If we are all honest it usually ends up in the bin and we don’t read to find out how it could actually benefit us. Well it’s time that you did because uPVC double glazed windows could be one of the wisest purchases you ever make.
By having double glazed windows installed you are actually doing your bit to save the planet as it helps lessen the carbon footprint of your property as you will be burning less fuel. The reason being is that single glazed windows lose twice as much heat as a double glazed window. A double glazed window retains heat within the home and is better for insulation, so it also helps you to cut your heating bills.
Not just that but double glazed windows can also get rid of condensation and reduce the amount of outside noise that comes into your home. It can also help deter burglars as a single pane window is a much easier target for the clever intruder as it is simpler to break into, so they can provide your home with the upmost security. As well as being extremely easy to maintain and guaranteed to last for years to come, if the time does ever come when you want to sell up, double glazing is a great draw to home buyers.
Remember that double glazing is a long term investment and you should always make sure that you buy a style which is most suited to your home. Also make sure you check what type of locking mechanism the window has as you don’t want it to be flimsy and easily breakable.

Indian Time Cycles – Gann and the Future of the US Stock Market

Image : http://www.flickr.com
“Most Gann aficionados know that Gann used astrology and that the most successful traders use it in their trading, as it is the hidden undercurrent that runs the markets. J.P. Morgan, the founder of the Morgan bank, was fond of saying that “anyone can be a millionaire, but to become a billionaire, you need an astrologer.” He had a private astrologer, Evageline Adams, who helped him tremendously. I have been fortunate to purchase financial astrological books from her library.
It is a little known fact that W. D. Gann went to India and studied Indian Sidereal Astrology. In his notebooks we find sketches of astrological symbols on his charts; and in his memoirs, he discusses his journey to India. In fact, the famous Gann wheel was first used by tea merchants in seventeenth century India. Gann also discussed the importance of using the starting date of when the first futures contract for a commodity began trading for predicting the future of that commodity. To my knowledge, there are very few individuals who use these starting dates to successfully time the markets even though my experience in using Indian Sidereal astrology has shown that these charts are invaluable.
Below is a brief introduction to Indian Sidereal Astrology, an overview of Indian time cycles and how they can be used, and a forecast through 2017 for the U.S. stock market based on this system.
The Western Zodiac vs. the Indian Zodiac
Indian astrology is over 5000 years old and has its foundation in ancient science. Parashara, a great seer or ancient scientist, intuited the laws of space and time responsible for the evolution of human consciousness and recorded his findings in a book called the Brihat Hora Sastra.
The first major difference between Indian and Western astrology lies in the calculation of the longitude of the planets. Ancient Indian astrologers observed that the equinoxes and solstices moved backward by one degree every 72 years, an astronomical phenomenon now known as precession. Over time this has resulted in a difference of slightly over 23 degrees between the tropical Zodiac, used by Western astrologers, and the sidereal Zodiac, used by Indian astrologers. In essence, the two systems differ in their choice of a zero point for Aries–the Western system uses the position of the spring equinox, while the Indian system uses a fixed star. Thus when the Sun is moving into Aries according to the Western system, it is still at 6 degrees Pisces in the Indian system. (For a further discussion of the differences, please see my article in the Winter 1989 NCGR Journal.)
Planetary Periods: Beyond Transits
A dasha is a period of time during which one’s life is influenced or governed by a particular planet. For example, the shortest period, the Sun period, lasts six years, while the longest period, Venus, lasts twenty years. These cycles unfold in a fixed sequence and comprise 120 years before they repeat. The order of the cycles is:
Ketu (Moon’s South Node): 7 years
Venus: 20 years
Sun: 6 years
Moon: 10 years
Mars: 7 years
Rahu: (North Node) 18 years
Jupiter: 16 years
Saturn: 19 years
Mercury: 17 years.
Where the cycle begins is based on the exact position of the moon at the time of birth. For example, when soybeans started trading in 1936, the moon was in the constellation (nakshatra) of Orion, which is ruled by the planet Mars. Thus a sequential unfoldment of cycles began with a seven years Mars period followed by Rahu (North Node of Moon), 18 years, Jupiter 16 years, into its current Saturn period that lasts 20 years etc. If beans had begun trading a day later, then the cycle would have begun from the next constellation, which is ruled by Rahu, or the North Node of the moon. The number of degrees the moon has transited through a nakshatra will determine how much time is left in the initial cycle. Thus if the moon were in the final degree of the constellation, the initial cycle will begin in the last section of the cycle. (Software is available for rapid computer calculation of these cycles–see references below.)
Within major cycles are sub-periods or sub-cycles that also unfold in a set sequential pattern. The sub-cycle begins with planet ruling the major cycle and then continues in sequence. For example, the current Saturn period for stocks started with a Saturn/Saturn period in 1998, and continued with a Saturn/Mercury period in August 2001 followed by a Saturn/Ketu period in 2004, etc. The major Saturn cycle will finish in 2017 and then the U.S. stock market will go into a Mercury major period. In order to properly use the Indian time cycles and their smaller periods, one must have the exact time of the start of the first future’s contract of a commodity. Each minute that one is off can lead to changing the prediction low or high by about 4 days. O’Non and Remnick illustrate the importance of the exact time using an analogy from physics:
To launch a rocket ship to the moon, knowledge of the precise angle, time, and location of the launching on earth are necessary. If it is launched at a slightly different time and angle, it will miss by 30,000 to 40,000 miles.
I have had to travel to the archives of the Chicago Board of Trade and other major exchanges to verify the first tick starting time and have collected an almost complete set of dates and times that I make available to participants in my advanced seminars or through my home study course on Vedic Financial Astrology (see references below). The challenge is that some of this data is very hard to get or was destroyed as was the case for wheat and corn data due to the Chicago fire and New York exchanges merging and not keeping good data. It takes time to rectify the charts and make them useful. The easiest way to understand the effects of a period is too look at past examples. Because we have 215 year of data on the U.S. stock market, and the complete unfoldment of a series of cycles is 120 years, we can go back to the period between 1878 and 1897 to study past analogues.
Application of the Indian Cycles to the US Stock Market
What is extraordinarily exciting about using dashas or Indian time cycles for market prediction is that it allows one to know the exact date that cycles change, to label them, and to quantify whether they are strong ups, minor ups, strong downs, or sideways. If one studies the 215 year history of the stock market, and is familiar with the rules for predicting and interpreting the Indian dasha or time cycle system, the mysterious cycles which seem to govern stocks would no longer be a mystery. For example, by no accident the bull market that began in 1982 coincided with the beginning of a 16-year Jupiter period, which began in late August. In general then, this system predicted the stock market would continue to expand until 1998, since Jupiter is a “”bullish”" planet and is well placed in the natal chart of the May 17, 1792 stock market chart. Rises and falls within the major cycles are explained by sub-periods, or antardasas. These sub-periods can either amplify or diminish the strength of the major period.
Within this 16-year period, the transits of Jupiter, its retrogradation and aspects to it are especially influential since Jupiter assumes the second most important role in the NYSE chart next to the moon, the chart lord. The Jupiter period ended in 1998, when a 19-year Saturn period assumed the second-most important role.
A recent study I did of the NYSE will explain how the dashas can be of use to spot short- term and intermediate declines or rises. Certain combinations lead to very predictable outcomes. To get daily timing on the stock market, one needs examine four or five levels of dashas, or cycles, to break the larger 20- and 2-3-year periods down into 20- and 3-4- day periods. Amazingly, the cyclical combinations that are negative on the larger scale level will often prove negative on the smaller scale.
A comparison of the October-February 1987-88 fourth level cycles (Jupiter/Mercury/Venus/Rahu etc.) with the third level periods in 1901-1904 (Mercury/Venus/Rahu) reveals that the major lows coincide with a repetition of particular combinations. This principle can also be extended to sections of other cycles in other years. For example, note the following:
Venus/Rahu/Saturn: (8-28-29 to 2-17-30) Declined from high of 372.06 on 9-03-29 to a low of 230.07 on 10-29-29. Jupiter/Mercury/Venus/Rahu/Saturn (Dec 4, 1987). Signaled another major low and decline to 1747 on the Dow after being as high as 2051 following the crash.
Jupiter/Mercury/Venus/Venus/Rahu (October 19, 1987) The third level Venus period did contribute to the direction of the decline in combination with a number of bearish oppositions, the return to an eclipsed constellation, and the sidereal transit of Uranus into Sagittarius. This one example indicates how the Venus/Rahu combination can be used to signal a sharp decline if it occurs in a particular combination.
This particular Venus/Rahu combination is only one of many combinations that one can label, and historically study. Other combinations are bullish, such as when the sequence unfolds from a Sun period into a Moon period and onto a Mars period. For example, the stock market’s last major Moon Period went from August 1947-August 1957. During that time the Dow went from 179.74 to 492.32, a gain of over 200%. During smaller moon cycles within larger periods, such as the Mars/Moon period from Jan 21, 1964 to August 21, 1964 the market climbed from 776 to 838. And in the Rahu/Moon period from Jan 31, 1980 to July 31, 1981, the Dow climbed from 875 to 935. Even on the third level we can usually count on a rally during a moon period, such as the Jupiter/Mercury/Moon period from April 4, 1988 to June 13, 1988. We saw a surprise rally that began in late May and took the Dow from 2000 at the beginning of the period to almost 2200 by the end of the period.
From the above examples, one can see the value of being able to label and quantify the cycles in order to predict the magnitude of the move. As many cycle analysts know, one can often find major cycle lows and entry point but still not have any idea how large the move is going to be. The Indian time cycle analysis is a genuine solution to forecasting because it can predict the future, not just suggest it from the past.
Future of the US Stock Market Based on Indian Cycles into 2017
A 19-year lackluster Saturn period in 1998-2017 does not have the bullish energy that we have seen in the Jupiter Period from 1982-1998. Consequently, the market will not go straight up nor will it go straight down–and it turns out that Venus periods have the biggest percentage losses. As we saw in the 18 year Rahu period from August 1964 to August 1982, the market can go net sideways in relatively narrow price bands over many years.
There is an approximate high into June 9, 2007 followed by a sharp decline into the week of Oct. 22, 2007 with a lower low due into about the third week of April 2008. We are still watching patterns to translate this into price movement.
There appears to be a recovery rally into late May 2010, then a sharp fall into Dec. 2010, a recovery toward the highs into Jan. 2013 and a major decline into 2013 that is one of the lowest points in the whole period, a recovery into August 2015 and then a sharp fall into the end of the period, which makes new lows into April 2017. Hence the periods to be long stocks appear to be Feb.-June 2007; April 2008 to May 2010 and Dec. 2010 to Jan. 2013. We adjust these directional indicators using Elliott Wave pattern analysis to predict price. There appears enough upward momentum in the current cycle to take stocks much higher into the June 2007 cycle high.
Gann reminded us that we have to take everything we know and apply it to our forecasts. Indian Time cycles are one tool. In our newsletter, we combine it with Elliott wave pattern analysis, minor astrological timing from planetary aspects, and five other proprietary cyclical techniques as well as technical analysis.
Back in 1990 and 1994, when everyone was bearish about stocks, we predicted DOW prices well over 7000 into 1998-2000 based on our dasha cycle models.
Conclusion
Anyone attempting to uncover the mysterious laws of nature that underlie the commodity and stock markets will be rewarded and intrigued by the depths of Indian astrology. The study of Indian astrology leads not only to knowledge of economic laws, but ultimately to knowledge of the self. Understanding Indian cycles and transits is as important for trading successfully as a good timing system. A combination of the two is astoundingly useful and leads to a profound appreciation of the order of natural law. While no astrological system should be used 100% to time market entries and exits, using both astrological and technical signals can certainly stack the odds in one’s favor.”

Scorpio Compatibility – How to Get Along With Scorpios

Image : http://www.flickr.com
Scorpio compatibility is an issue that concerns a lot of people; they are the most “mysterious” sign of them all, and the most magnetic. The scorpion comes from the story of Orion the Hunter, he was always chasing after the giant scorpion but it always eluded him. Some astrologers have related the scorpion to the dragon the beast that has to be slain by the hero. Nevertheless Scorpio takes a little understanding.
First, it is a water sign; connected to the emotions, and that shimmering, visionary quality of liquids as light gets reflected off of it. Water signs are less rational than the other signs, they go more from how the feel about situations and people.
Second, Scorpio is ruled by the planet Mars, which relates it to areas of power and aggression, and also crisis that people experience during times of personal turmoil. Mars also brings up the famous sexuality angle to Scorpio. Mars is a planet chiefly of desire, it goes for what it wants; and a lot of times Mars wants sex right away.
Thirdly, Scorpio is a fixed sign; it is of a type of energy that prefers to stay the same and can be rather stubborn at times. A lot of Scorpios are known for their persistence in their preferred ways, and they can be quite immovable from their positions. Their great advantage here is they can tremendous persistence, and they are not quitters.
So with Scorpio you have fixed water sign ruled by Mars; it can be very stubborn in its ways to the point of obsession and beyond; it is not exactly rational, it moves from it’s emotions and feelings; and it can be quite aggressive, passionate, and downright scary at times.
Scorpio can also be very fascinated with the hidden side of life: metaphysics, the occult and the deeper areas of psychology. If you’re a little mysterious yourself, a Scorpio is going to be attracted to you. He/she also requires a little understanding on your part that he/she can be extremely driven in ways which are not exactly understandable at first glance; they can’t just explain off the bat what is occupying their attention. You don’t need to be “afraid” of them; you just have to understand where they are coming from.
Scorpio compatibility traditionally is with the other water signs: Cancer and Pisces; it has a special relationship to Taurus as it is exactly opposite it on the zodiac wheel, and it can have some real problems with Leo and Aquarius. There is a moderate compatibility of Scorpio to the earth signs: Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn; and little if any compatibility to Aries, Libra, and Sagittarius.

Arbitration Agreements – How They Help Employers Stay Out of Court

Image : http://www.flickr.com
In this day and age where employee lawsuits are commonplace, it behooves the employer to have their employees sign an arbitration agreement. Using arbitration agreements are on the rise, and since the 1980′s the Supreme Court has been supporting their use. In an unanimous decision, the California Supreme Court has held that an employer does have the right to require employees to sign mandatory arbitration agreements as a condition to employment (Armendariz v. Foundation Health Psychcare Services, Inc., 00 C.D.O.S. 7127 (8/24/00).
In Armendariz, the court concluded that arbitration agreements were enforceable as long as certain criteria were met: 1) the agreement must provide for neutral arbitrators; 2) it must provide for more than minimal discovery; 3) it must require a written award; 4) it must provide for all the types of relief that would otherwise be available in court; and, 5) it must not require employees to pay either unreasonable costs or any arbitrators’ fees or expenses as a condition of using the arbitration process. If these conditions are satisfied, the court concluded that an arbitration provision will not be found unconscionable and will be enforced.
Should an employee workplace issue arise, having a signed arbitration agreement will be invaluable to you as the business owner. Nearly any employment dispute that could arise would require the employee to use arbitration rather than sue the business owner in court. In California, the laws that govern these arbitration agreements are the California Arbitration Act and the Federal Arbitration Act.
Now the legal path has been cleared by the courts, a properly drafted arbitration agreement is a great document to keep the business owner out of court. Generally speaking the arbitration process is far quicker than a normal court trial. An arbitration proceeding could take as little as a month, while a formal court trial could take years. This shorter time frame saves a tremendous amount of money in attorney fees for the company.
In an arbitration proceeding, there is no right to a jury trial. This is advantageous for employers because jurors tend to favor employees over employers in their decisions. Arbitration discovery rules are much more restrictive than in the court system. Without this right to discovery, employees may not have the ability to produce the documentation required to win their dispute.
Arbitration proceedings are usually done through an arbitration service and employers often pay for this service. The decision made by the arbitrator is almost always final. This is helpful because there is no rights of appeal accept in narrow circumstances. Courts are able to review an arbitrator’s decision, but it is far narrower in scope than an appeal. The use of arbitration agreements has increased substantially over the past decade. It is just one of many business protection documents available to business owners to help reduce the chances of lawsuits.
