The Cobbler [The Think Tank of : Orian/25,000 BC/Part Four]

Act II

Scene One

[In the Constellation called Orion, the Cobbler is readying himself to have a second gathering of the elite a group known as the "Think Tank," of the Universe he is thinking out loud, resting - it has been 50,000 years since their last meeting of the minds; a new member has joined them

by the name of: Florencia]

On the edge of the Universe, in the consultation–Orion

The Narrator

The Cobbler is sitting on a frozen red and blue intergalactic form of gasses, in deep space; he has shaped these gases into a sofa chair of sorts. They have created a being of sorts, on the planet Tiamat II, otherwise known as Earth, otherwise known as the Blue Planet. They have implanted in this new species a genetic structure, encoded a few traits they had lost some time ago, eons ago, they can’t remember how they lost them character behaviors, but they know they offended the God of the Universe in the process, otherwise known as ‘God, god.’

The Cobbler has been observing this new species for some 50,000-years, and partly to his dismay. Something else is lacking he has deduced. So simply he tells himself–referring to the thing that is lacking–it surprises him, shamefully, that it took 50,000-years to figure it out. But then, he allows himself some leeway, realizing, sometimes we’re simply too close to the forest to see the trees. A dump philosophy that makes him feels better anyhow.

And so, he has called a meeting of the minds, called the ‘Think Tank,’ of the Universe, to talk about the Galaxy called the Milky Way, a stellar system the Cobbler had acquired a liking for; and about the planet Earth, as he glimpses at its from, in intergalactic space. The guests that are arriving assume they are the seven who have survived the longest of all the other species in their known sections of the Universe.

Scene II

Guests Arriving

Narrator

As his guests do arrive, one by one, he is thinking about the ‘God, god,’ theory…or issue, and the creation he has brought about on earth. He hopes with ‘God, god’s’ blessing. The last thing he wants to do is get on the bad side of Him again. The Earthy thing that bothers him, to make a long thought short, is that his subjects are acting more like animals than like–let’s say, hu-mans; what he and his group did not expect. Surely they got the genetic code for ‘desire,’ right, but maybe too damn right, as was planned, possible too engrained, not soft touch to it, Florencia has brought to the groups attention:

Florencia. [A little cocky] “You have created a human fish for of life, or is it a human rabbit, or perhaps an intergalactic flesh fish form of life; with feet and limbs by its shoulder, what next, what do you expect, you need to down it tempo, and raise its formal reason process with Love.”

Narrator. As they look down upon earth, they notice the hu-man’s are becoming more dangerous than the animals. Consequently, the desire to live, eat, have sex has no limits, boundaries, or for that matter, no ethics.

The King. [Disapprovingly] One takes from the other without conscious. They do not know right from wrong, or if they do, it is not showing. And in old age, no one stops the cruelty that prevails. The question comes up to us, the Think-Tank: how can Earth people stop earth people from hurting earth people, without our intervention; I mean, simply look: when one person gets bigger than the other and wants more from the others, that is not theirs in the first place. This is greed we have created, not love, or hope or faith. We must correct this before our deaths.

The Colonial. Just wait a minute here. The Cobbler builds walls to stop us, get our attention, what if the walls would kill us, would he stop building them? Better yet, if it had killed me, I’d be dead, and then he can figure out right from wrong, but it does me no good, I’m still dead because of his right to do what he feels he needs to do to get to the end of his thoughts: will he give his life up for right or wrong, and in this case, kill himself. No, I say, no he will not, and that is because of greed. Is it not, their duty to take while they can, for when they are old they will not be able to, it is the law of survival, as it is out here, the law of getting attention to build walls: is this not true?

Florencia. Who is to stop the beings from raping, killing or robbing; something dreadfully is wrong here. And like 50,000 years ago, when the Cobbler came up with this bright idea to create these beings, the missing element never occurred to him, the thing lacking in the animals, reasoning which equals, ‘free will,’ the very thing the creator gave to us at one time, the one think no one seems to remember, but cherishes nonetheless; really can’t remember His name haw, so they call him ‘God, god,’ when you talk about him, and God when you feel like you need to worship him, and “God, god,” when you fear Him the most.

Narrator and the Cobbler. [The Think Tank is sitting in circle thinking]

As time moves on [to the Cobbler], another observation comes to light, which is really an extension of the first, and he writes this down to show the Think Tank, so he doesn’t forget,

“Nobody wants to die,” haw, that was the Cobbler saying that and that is pretty true and to the point, and the Think Tank is thinking on that very subject this minute. But yet, how can this be? I mean to tell you folks reading this, this is what the Think Tank, is thinking, and this is what the hu-mans are fighting for, and the Think Tank is having a hard time seeing the parallel, is not to smart thing for the Think Tank, I think. And to be quite honest with you, it gives them something to think about, I mean, they are getting closer to their universal dead date line, they also cannot live forever you know; or they know, or they should know.

So the questions come up by the Cobbler. “Now how can that be, when it is part of the natural process, can a little drop of their genetic fiber causes this? …God, forbid! Did we put too much desire in these beings…” [His thoughts are racing and so is his mind, and you can see his head spinning: spin and think, spin and think that is what is going on for about 10,000 years here.]? People within the Think Tank come and go was the Cobbler things…!

Narrator continues. Well, the way to fix this, he concludes, and will inform the Think Tank, is by adding somehow, someway, the elements of ‘free will’ a suggestion by Florencia. He has concluded, if the creatures on earth already have it, they have perhaps too much of it, so he tells himself: I mean they were careful in the ingredients they added to the creation menu of the hu-mans: first was the body for its physical needs, then socialization, then the mind for psychological reasons, and of course they had left out reasoning, or was its something else, or addition? And if they don’t have it, they will end up eating each other pretty soon, so he better find a way on how to inject it before there is no one left to experiment with.

Narrator. The Captain has now arrived back at the circle of thinkers (it has changed to the place called Orion), you see him coming out of some super cluster, a far off Galaxy; evidently he was soul searching going back and forth for personal reasons: bored perhaps; he had left the group to think on his own all the same, and is now back, a little cynical brut, but a good sort of chap.

And the Pope, he has returned, he is the spiritual leader of the group of eight, or the Think Tank, as we know it to be; he lives or dwells in the constellation called Sagittarius [the Archer].

It would seem everyone had his or her favorite places live, like the creatures they’ve created on earth. But to the Cobbler, there is nothing in the Universe more beautiful than Orion, with its Horse head Nebula, his abode. And dark clouds, interstellar matter, and its nebula absorbing light from distant stars it is a grand place he thought for this meeting. He tells the Captain and the Pope, there is no equal in the entire universe for the orange coloration of the pulsating matter, dust and gases that are fly around the Horse head of the Nebula, and the star Orion.

Now the circle is starting to look more like a circle, and a meeting again. The Colonial has arrived, who are the scientist, and the General [whom is always moody, or so it seems], the inquisitive, and the aging King [who seems to get annoyed, and always thinks he is going to die soon, but seemingly will out live all the seven], and the Governor [whose affect is always flay, good for playing poker though].

[Everyone now is sitting on his or her frozen, gassy-colorful looking sofa chairs.]

The Cobbler. You all know me as the Cobbler, and I got this meeting today to report the findings of the beings we created some 50, 000 or is it now 60,000-years ago on the Blue Planet, which will be called in the future, Earth, I looked into the book of the future, only a fragment of it though, I didn’t want to cheat, and I still do believe the greatest gift, our creator, “God, god’, gave us was not to foretell the future, so I leave it as it is. But a peek now and then doesn’t hurt.

The Captain. We all know what is happening on the Blue Planet, in your neck of the woods, Mr. Cobbler–don’t be so surprised Mr. Cobbler, you’re not the only one out here, we keep updated also.

The Cobbler looks at them all–

And they all nod, indicating yes…

Captain. So let’s not squander anymore time, what’s on your mind, and what do you want from us, and what is next!– [?]

The Cobbler. Something is lacking in the primates on Earth–I call them primates because they–they act more like animals than reasonable beings; that is to say, more out of instinct, than out of reasoning.

Colonial. [Antagonistically] Well, when we made them, the beings that are on the Blue Ball that is, when we made them, [he is pointing], we used all the knowledge we had at our disposal, so what in this Universe do you think we can do about this?

The Cobbler. That of course is why we are all here. Let me explain. We simply forgot something. We were selfish, and that the Pope can understand better than all of us [the Pope looks at the Cobbler]. You see, we did not give them freewill like us…or perhaps something else.

The Pope [Piously] Yes, yes–we forgot the gift the Great Creator gave us so very long ago. Yes, yes–this is so, this is so. But how do we implement this, I mean, how do we ratify our wrong, and make it right? What is missing from the menu is Spirituality: you’ve added social, psychological, physical needs but, and this is a big ‘but’ do we not have a need for spiritual-ness? It is part of our general make up; the creatures likewise? Reason demands we look at this element; although the problem is, we as we are, die, and thus, cannot give them this one ingredient, it has to come from God Himself, this is the problem, for is it not He who has unglued himself from the puzzle?

The Cobbler [Anxious]. I’m glad you said that Pope, a good stepping-stone for me. I think what we need to do is create a virus–yes, that is what we need to do; that will only infect the beings biological structure, their genetic predisposition. After we have perfected this virus, we need to inject it, or some how float it, into their system. We need it to infect the system, change the system, and then lay dormant so it doest affect anything else in the future. This will also adjust the beings reasoning capability, or so I think. Free will, we will have to depend on free will to seek out God again, lest they feel empty like us; is not a right by any means for a creature to feel God inside him, it is a gift from the creator we threw away, and they must find, we can only do so much.

King. [Sleepily] Well, I hope if we do it, we do it quick so I can live to see the results. It’s been over 50,000-years, and all we created is another monkey. I could have done that is my sleep, although this primate is more creative I see, and quite a lot cleverer than his neighbors.

Governor. [Surrealistically] We have given them long lasting chromosomes, yet they only live between one hundred to one thousand years, and then they weaken and break, like everything in the Universe, they cascade. Like a ball, some day the whole thing is going to come to its destination, and drop. As I was about to say, lizards live longer than our creation, they grow as they live, and never stop, how did we do that?

[The Captain responds]: ‘we didn’t do that, ‘God, god’…woops, I didn’t mean to boast, I got to watch myself. Anyways, that is what virus’ do, they mutate, and so we got to be careful they do not cause future damage.

The Cobbler to the Governor. [Sensationally] You are so right, but we must take chances in life. Can we honestly now, leave these creatures on earth as they are, when there is a passivity in me for them; to give them more reasoning, and free will to make better choices, or worse ones is all we can do. We are now responsible for them, like it or not. If something bad is triggered in the future, most likely they will have the means to fix it, for it will be them who create the trigger, and we will most likely will not be around to assist or maybe God will allow us to, I hope, or possibly beings like us, are the last of our breed, and like you said, the last to give a chance to the Universe to put forth a new a creative creature, liken to us, but with less powers. But there is always that chance, old desire will out weigh the new reasoning and free will I suppose, and survival could trigger world atrophy; it is the chance even God Himself must take.

I have heard some of the beings asking such questions as, “Where are we from,” and “why can’t we remember the past.” When in essence there really isn’t much of a past, although the ‘desire’ fiber, wants them to believe there is.

General. [Wanting to get back to whatever he was doing before he came says in a quick manner] Ok, ok, ok: Cobbler, how do we infect our prize begins on this little dot in space call a planet? Hopefully this will help us reunite ourselves with our God, and give me peace from you.

The Cobbler. [A little worried but surprisingly spontaneous] We can do it, we can do it…we simply infect the air with a dust, chemical, that will only affect the neurons in the right places of the beings. Or we could put it in the water, or even hand delivered it to a few of the females and let it take its roots from that. Although I would feel guilty for the souls lost to nothingness. We could also put it in the clouds, and when it rained it would drip all over them. The reason why we are here is to get ideas.

As you can see, they are already drawing pictures on the walls of caves. This will bring them out of the caves and they will build temples; follow the stars, and find our God, or create their own God’s. And when they do, He will no longer be angry with us possibly, or become angrier; whatever the case, redemption may be around the corner. They already have the trivial genetic material we gave them, they simply need a booster, and the Captain can come up with a dose that will accommodate or alter whatever needs altering, accordingly.

The General. We’re going to end up with two kinds of intelligent life here, the cave drawer and the sun worshiper living side by side I fear; one envious of the other for somehow, feeling the other found reasoning, and how to survive outside of the cave, and build, buildings. They will watch these new beings that look much like themselves, not fearful, not hiding, and they will see themselves die-out. The transition period I do realize will take several long generations, perhaps more like millenniums, to adapt to this– if we separate the cotenants, we can perfect this ‘will’ thing to minimum damage, on the first set of beings. We can also instill in them an eagerness to travel, for adventure, look at them now, they are all clustered in one area–and, and if worse comes to worse, there will be beings of different races, and cultures all over the Earth. Thus, we need not worry about the hu-mankind dying out.

And so it was ordained on the 8th day of May, 25,000+ years ago, that man would be infected with a mutative virus that would change him forever. Consequently, balancing his system, and allowing him to become part of the universal body of thinkers, with reason, desire and free will, yet spirituality was yet to be found or implanted.

Philip Glass : Orion

Philip Glass : Orion Committed to outside influence – IRate –
With the first track I was already starting to get upset with Glass simply dealing in patented mechanics as he can do, putting didgeridoo on a construction which I believe sounded quite familiar (maelstrom?). Familiar construction is no stranger to Glass’s approach, who can be as widely praised for diversity as he is criticized for simplicity. Thankfully the artist is able to utilize this multi-cultured theme in a way which actually widens, rather than confines. The result is something one can recommend outside his normal demographics of studied nuance, something a little more human, heartfelt, and connective.
: Orion is a live recording of the ninety-minute work commissioned by Arts, Dance, and Music Productions which premiered in Athens on June 3, 2004 (with The Philip Glass Ensemble) as part of the Cultural Olympiad in Greece. The recording features Eleftheria Arvanitaki vocalist, Mark Atkins on didjerido, Wu Man on pipa, Gaurav Mazumdar performing a sitar work by Ravi Shakar, Ashley MacIsaac on fiddle, Foday Musa Suso on kora, and the Brazilian ensemble Uakti. The American Premiere on June 21, 2005, will be held at the Ravinia Festival in Highland Park, IL. Orion was commissioned for the 2004 Athens Cultural Olympiad. Composer Philip Glass’s desire was to create a “truly multi-cultural, international music work.” Those familiar with Glass’s music will have an idea about what to expect—minimalist motifs repeated over and over, subtly changing both rhythmically and harmonically. But this 90-minute work devotes each of its nine sections to a particular nation: one each to Brazil, Canada, Australia, India, China, The Gambia, and Greece and three in combination. Glass uses instruments indigenous to each country, giving the work a terrific array of colors and flavors. The dark gruntings of the didgeridoo are made even more effective when contrasted with the dainty Chinese pipa, a sort-of cross between the lute and mandolin; the sounds of Nova Scotian fiddler Ashley MacIsaac are sharp edged and folksy; and there is a duet for high wind instrument and sitar. The finale is a Greek song with all the instrumentalists chiming in. “Orion” seems somewhat formless—it’s not a concerto or symphony—but its series of movements have great beauty and tonal diversity and keep the ear fascinated. Bioplasma Bodies – Formation of the Central Pranic and Kundalini Currents

The helical shape of the magnetic field around the gas cloud in the constellation Orion is believed to be caused by matter in the interstellar cloud moving in a straight line along the length of the filament. When this happens, it causes the magnetic field around the cloud to spiral around in a corkscrew pattern. The researchers were able to detect this spiral shape using the Green Bank Telescope, a radio observatory in Virginia. When helical magnetic fields form in plasma, charged particles move along the field lines generating helical currents.

Kundalini is a Sanskrit term meaning either “coiled up” or “coiling like a snake”. It is derived from the term kundala, which means a “ring” or “coil”. Kundalini energy has often been depicted in ancient drawings as a serpent coiled around the back part of the root chakra in three and a half turns (comparable to a solenoid or a compressed helical current) around the sacrum. The phenomenon of “kundalini awakening” gives rise to the bio-energetic phenomena experienced by meditators. The intensified energy is supposed to originate from an apparent reservoir of subtle bio-energy at the base of the spine.

The central vertical currents in the subtle body (described as Ida, Pingala and Sushumna in the yoga literature) are often depicted in the metaphysical (particularly the yoga) literature as a pair of mutually entangled helical currents with straight currents passing through them. They appear in a familiar structure which resembles the caduceus symbol found in medical literature.

Mutually entangled (double spirals) currents are frequently seen in space and laboratory plasmas. This shows that there is a strong connection between plasma dynamics and the formation of the central kundalini and pranic currents in the (supersymmetric) bioplasma body as described by plasma metaphysics. Helical structures can also be found in dusty (or complex) plasma. This article will describe the processes from the viewpoint of plasma metaphysics as to how this structure forms within the bioplasma body, which is composed of complex plasma. According to plasma metaphysics, a series of (dark) bioplasma bodies are coupled to our carbon-based body. These bioplasma bodies can exist independently of the carbon-based body (except for the lower physical-etheric body which is strongly coupled to the carbon-based body).

Absorption and Self-Organization of Particles within the Bioplasma Body

Kundalini and prana particles are considered super(symmetric) particles in plasma metaphysics. The light prana particles are often said to originate from the Sun while heavy kundalini particles are often said to originate from the (fiery) core of the Earth. These two types of particles form plasmas with different characteristics. Plasmas with different characteristics (in this case different densities and temperatures) has a tendency to self-organize into “cells” with double-layers around themselves. Hence, as kundalini and prana particles are absorbed into the bioplasma bodies (via the plasma vortexes or chakras) they self-organize into pools (or reservoirs) of kundalini and prana particles.

In Chinese Qigong studies, qi is said to accumulate in specific areas – identified as “qi vessels” (also sometimes called “qi reservoirs”). There are eight of these qi vessels; four of the most important vessels lie within the torso – including two at the lower abdominal region. These vessels act like the capacitors in electrical circuits which store electrical charge, according to Dr Yang Jwing-Ming – an authority on Qigong. From the perspective of plasma metaphysics, these vessels are plasma cells containing different types of plasma with double layers around them which act like capacitors.

Plasma metaphysics observes that the center of the bioplasma body (coinciding somewhat with the lower abdomen of the biomolecular body) contains a pool of the highest density charged magnetic plasma composed of heavy particles (this plasma can be identified as kundalini-type particles and ‘Earth qi’). In Chinese Qigong this area, just below the navel, is frequently referred to as the “cauldron”. It is separated from a pool of lower density magnetic plasma of an opposite charge (or polarity) near the head composed of light particles (this plasma can be identified loosely with ‘prana-like’ particles and ‘Heaven qi’). An electric field develops in the bioplasma body due to the separation (or polarization) of the plasma and double layers form. (The thermal potential contributes to this polarization.) V N Tsytovich and his colleagues demonstrated, using a computer model of molecular dynamics, that particles in a plasma can undergo self-organization as electric charges become separated and the plasma becomes polarized.

Formation of Double Layers

A double layer is a structure in plasma that consists of two parallel electrostatic layers with opposite electrical charge. The two sheets of charge cause a strong electric field and a correspondingly abrupt change in voltage (or electrical potential) across the double layer. Various types of instabilities may occur with double layers in the laboratory and in space, often arising due to the formation of beams of ions and electrons.

The production of a double layer requires regions with a significant excess of positive or negative charge, that is, where the quasi-neutrality of the plasma is violated. MHD (i.e. Magneto-hydrodynamics) theory does not include the possibility of parallel electric fields while observations of accelerated particles suggest their existence. In general, quasi-neutrality can only be violated on scales of the order of the Debye length. The thickness of a double layer is of the order of ten Debye lengths, which is a few centimeters in the ionosphere, a few tens of meters in the interplanetary medium, and tens of kilometers in the intergalactic medium. We would therefore expect to see only thin double layers within bioplasma bodies.

Formation of Straight and Helical Pranic Currents within the Bioplasma Body

As a result of the formation of an electric field or potential, within the bioplasma body, a straight (or axial) current carrying the lighter charged particles develop initially. This current generates magnetic fields around itself. Based on basic electromagnetics we know that these magnetic fields will be in the form of circular loops around the straight current. These are often described as circular ‘azimuthal’ magnetic fields around straight ‘axial’ currents.

For plasmas immersed in strong magnetic fields, electric currents tend to flow along the magnetic field lines, which act like wires guiding the current. Charged particles entering the ovoid therefore then flow around the azimuthal magnetic field which approximates a tightly wound (i.e. where the turns are close to each other) solenoid. This causes a dipole magnetic field to form, aligned with the axial current and extending outwards at the north and south poles. Along the central currents, the magnetic field lines are relatively straight and uniform.

The application of an axial magnetic field on the azimuthal magnetic field produces magnetic shear and transforms the azimuthal magnetic field into a helical one. As electric charges stream along the helical field lines, a helical current develops. This situation, where a helical current follows a helical magnetic field, is called a “force-free” configuration. The field-aligned current is called a Birkeland current. The density of the Lorentz force j × B generated by Birkeland currents is zero. Although the magnetic field is not in the lowest energy state possible (the vacuum state), it is in a local minimum energy state and so represents a stable equilibrium.

Formation of Straight and Helical Kundalini Currents within the Bioplasma Body

The kundalini current does not develop as rapidly as the pranic current as kundalini consists of heavier, more massive, particles which are more difficult to accelerate. (The “three and a half turns” at the base of the spine, often cited in the yoga literature, suggests a retarded development of the current.) Hence, it is only when the electric field is amplified that sufficient potential is generated to move these particles. The electrical potential can be amplified through certain meditative practices. When the potential reaches a certain threshold, an axial current will ensue followed by a helical current which will develop in a process similar to the development of the pranic currents. As the kundalini current develops from the base of the spine it will be guided by the helical magnetic field lines and would be seen to be slowly rising by twining around the existing axial current in a spiral. Metaphysicist G S Arundale tells us that “kundala represents a coil, spiral or ring, which expresses the way the inner fire unfolds”. In other words, it describes the spiral or helical path that kundalini particles take as they rise from the base of the spine and twirl around the axial current, guided by the helical magnetic field generated by the axial current. According to experimental metaphysicist Charles Leadbeater, the course through which (kundalini) ought to move is spiral. This field-aligned current of kundalini particles is a Birkeland current.

Plasma Dynamics between Pranic and Kundalini Currents

The potential drop across the double layer will accelerate the charged prana and kundalini particles in opposite directions. (Barbara Brennan has observed a vertical flow of energy that pulsates up and down the center of the body. She calls it “the vertical power current”.) The magnitude of the potential drop determines the acceleration of the charged particles. In strong double layers, this will result in beams or jets of charged particles. In the end, the electric field builds up until the fluxes of particles in either direction are equal, and further charge build up in the two plasmas would be prevented if the system was isolated. However, due to fresh intakes of prana and kundalini particles (via the plasma vortexes or chakras) the process continues within the (living) bioplasma body. (Meditative practices sometimes force the kundalini particles back in the opposite direction towards the direction of the pool of kundalini particles which causes disequilibrium. The reverse path is more difficult because the kundalini current will be repelled by the pool of kundalini particles, with the same charge, at the base of the spine.)

The kundalini axial and helical currents together make up the kundalini composite current. The pranic axial and helical currents together make up the pranic composite current. The kundalini composite current is opposite in polarity to the pranic composite current. This would result in a configuration that would be equivalent to a configuration where both composite currents were carrying particles of the same polarity in the same direction. According to Biot-Savart law, the composite currents would therefore exert a magnetic force attracting each other so that the two axial currents come closer together. They will attract each other even at close distances because of their different polarities – unlike the situation where currents of the same polarity are flowing in the same direction. In the latter case, the currents attract when further apart (because of the magnetic force) but repel each other at close distances (due to the electric charge). The helical components of the composite currents, being attracted to each other, then twine around the axial currents like two snakes wrapped around a tree trunk (the “trunk” being represented by the axial currents which form a flux tube).

Conclusion

Toshiba – A Corporation Manufacturing More Than Office Telephones

Whether you are a small business owner or the office manager of a large company, you understand that office phones have to work. Despite the large move to email and instant communication over the Internet, telephones still hold a vital place in the office environment. One enterprise focused telephone manufacturer is Toshiba, a corporation that has a diverse background and a history spanning over a century.

Started in 1875, by founder Hisashige Tanaka, the company became Japan’s first manufacture of telegraphic equipment. As the company began to grow and diversify itself, it became the corporation we know today after the merging of two companies in 1939. Shibaura Seisakusho and Tokyo Denki created a new company called Tokyo Shibaura Denki, that later was nicknamed Toshiba. This became the official name in 1984.

Over the course of its lifetime, Toshiba Corporation has been responsible for many Japanese firsts. Such as the radar, the color video phone, the laptop personal computer and most recently HD-DVD players in 2006 that display up to 1080p resolution. Toshiba also manufactured Japan’s first electric washing machines and refrigerators in 1930.

As demand for Toshiba products increased throughout the United States, the corporation signed a contract in 2001 with Orion Electric, a large consumer video electronic maker and supplier, in order to meet the high demand. Since then, Toshiba announced the discontinuation of manufacturing traditional cathode ray tube television in favor of the new flat-panel digital televisions now in high demand.

Toshiba is currently the 7th largest integrated manufacturer of electric and electronic equipment in the world and is still well known for its laptops, televisions, HD DVD players, and telephone systems.

Early Sky Watchers

The Chinese were not only one of the first but the culture that left us the most complete records of what they could see. In 4 BC. A man called Shih-sen produced a list of 809 stars, grouping them into 122 asterisms (close groupings). Seeing that we only use 88 today you can fully understand how complete this system was. But seeing these shapes are not that easy for many people. Or so they think. Scientific accuracy is not important here. It is about picking up a part of the sky and being able to share it with someone far away.

How to start observing the sky

* You need patience, time warm clothing, a comfortable chair and a star map. Later you may ad a binocular ad much later a telescope.

* Start reading children books about astronomy until you know the rotation of the earth and why the stars appear to move during a single night. Once that you try to understand why the sky will change during the months of the year.

* Now take out the map and find out if there is a major constellation (group of stars) in the sky. Even elementary maps will show you at least the stars in summer, winter, autumn and fall. This is a great place to start.

* Now try to find one of the brightest stars indicated by a bigger white dot. From there you build your constellation. Once you have one, you soon find the rest.

* Many are small and you need to use a little imagination. But you can imagine right?

* Constellation such as Orion, the southern cross, the Big Dipper, Taurus and Scorpio are some of the easier groups to spot.

Start doing a little at a time and soon you will see them leap out at you. Th Moon is an excellent celestial body to follow and soon you will be an expert, knowing where the moon is, what time it will rise and in which phase it is.

Step-by-Step Guide After an Automotive Accident

Being in an auto accident can make you feel totally helpless, like you have suddenly lost control of your life. Do you have injuries? Do your passengers have injuries? You do know that your auto looks like a pile of crumpled-up metal, and then there remain the other vehicles and people involved in the accident. Did this really just happen? You’re probably in a state of shock but you remember there are some things that you’re supposed to do when you’re in an auto accident. You, as the driver, are supposed to be the responsible one and you realize that you must stay calm so that you can first of all check on everyone to see who needs immediate help. Someone has called 911 and the ambulances and the police are on their way if necessary.

Now you must start thinking about the evidence you need to collect for your insurance company to prove your innocence in the situation. If you have remembered to put an emergency kit into your car, it is now time to get out the disposable camera and start taking pictures of the vehicles, any skid marks, of anything that pertains to the accident.

After taking the necessary photos of the accident you need to think about moving vehicles if this was a small accident. If the accident is more serious it is not a good idea to move any of the vehicles. You should go back to your emergency kit and get out the flares and any items to help warn traffic that there was an accident. The positioning of these warning devices is important to keep other vehicles from becoming part of this accident.

If this was just a small fender bender the police will probably not respond so you need to gather all the pertinent information from any other drivers involved and also any witnesses to the accident. Also, if the police did not come to the scene you will need to file a report. This can be accomplished by either going to a police station if one is close or by making a phone call and filing a report that way.

What you say at the scene of any accident can be extremely important later on if there is a question regarding liability. You should never say that the accident was your fault and don’t discuss the details of the accident with anyone besides your insurance company and a police officer if they have come to the site of the accident. Also, it is important that you do not make any under the table deals with the other driver or drivers because they don’t want any record of the accident reported to their insurance company. You should be very wary of anyone offering you cash at the scene of an accident. First of all, it is not legal and secondly you do not know if someone is injured just because you don’t see any blood. People are always skeptical when someone says “whiplash” but there actually is an injury caused to the neck during a certain type of accident which may not actually show up until after the person gets home. They may go to sleep that night with no pain, and wake up in the morning with a severely stiff and painful neck. Also, your vehicle might seem okay on the outside but what if the accident damaged something under the hood that doesn’t show up until you actually drive the car.

This is the time when you are actually happy that you paid the higher insurance premium to cover towing and also the auto rental reimbursement option. If you car is in the shop for even a day it will be of great assistance to you to have a rental car paid for by the insurance company so that you can go about your business as usual until your car is repaired. There two options will have saved your hundreds of dollars that it costs to have your car towed to a shop for repairs and the high costs of renting a car.

Using Your Orion Network and Tools to Locate and Isolate an Infected Computer

If you’re using SolarWinds Orion networks for your network administration, you have a whole host of network tools and applications at your fingertips that were designed to make managing your network as easy as possible. Unfortunately, you may not know how to use half of them.

You can use your SolarWinds Orion network tools to take care of a variety of problems, from blocking unwanted use to isolating an infected computer.

With your currently installed Orion network and the addition of Orion NetFlow Traffic Analyzer, you can quickly pinpoint and respond to the wide variety of self-propagating viruses that can attack your network.

For an example, consider the following scenario:

1) Discovery

A local branch of your banking network that handles all of your credit card transactions complains that the network is extremely sluggish, which is causing frequent timeouts during sensitive data transfers. Concerned, you immediately set out to investigate.

2) Investigation

You open the Orion NPM Web Console network tool to see that the link to the network is up at the branch site. You consult your Percent Utilization chart and see that current utilization at the site is 98 percent. You know normal utilization at that point is 15-25 percent. Your concern escalates as you realize your carefully protected network has been invaded.

3) Identifying the problem

You click the NetFlow Traffic Analyzer tab, and then click the link to the branch site. Taking a quick look at the Top 5 Endpoints, you see that a single computer in the 10.10.10.0-10.10.10.255 IP range is generating 80 percent of the load on the branch link. This is what’s slowing down the data transfers. You’re getting closer.

You know that this computer resides in a part of the branch that is accessible to customers for personal transactions using the Web. Further investigation reveals that 100 percent of the computer’s traffic for the past two hours has been over port 1883.

Because you know that you don’t have any devices using IBM MQSeries messaging in that location, nor any other services or protocols that require 1883, you can tell that this is a virus exploit. One you will shortly terminate.

4) Solution

You quickly use your configuration management tool, such as Cirrus Configuration Manager, to push a new configuration to your firewall that blocks port 1883. Within minutes, you see the usage percentage drop to its normal 15-25 range. This area is secured.

Stalking – Protect Yourself

Recently, a stalker viciously killed a young female college student bringing national media attention to a problem that is always with us-quite often though, in the shadows, away from our consciousness.

While stalking rarely leads to murder, it can and does lead to assault, harassment and unbelievable fear and anxiety to its victims. As I emphasized and tried to make very clear in my book, Protect Yourself: The Simple Keys Woman Need to be Safe and Secure was the fact that stalking is one of the worst circumstances women (and men) can become victims of. It is important to note stalkers can be the single most difficult people to deter or stop in the area of personal protection. As Denver Psychiatrist Doreen Orion, MD a ten-year stalking victim herself said “often there is no end, no resolution. It just drags on and on with the victim never knowing if it is finally over”.

Consequently, common sense tells us the best thing we can do is not get involved with people who may turn into a stalker. That sounds easy enough, doesn’t it? Quite frankly though, there is little we can do to prevent stalking. Yet, there are common traits stalkers seem to have that can alert us to be wary and to keep away:

· Sociopathic Thinking-This means individuals showing impulsive behavior, being indifferent to the rights and feelings of others, having difficulty sustaining relationships and a lack of regret for their actions.

· Obsessive Personality

· Does not seem to take no for an answer

· Few or no personal relationships

· Low self esteem

These traits can be used as a warning for you to stay clear of these individuals. Of course, one or two traits may not be enough to make you seriously wary, however, keep these guidelines in the back of your head.

How about if you’re already dealing with a stalker?

· The single most important thing to do with a stalker is to tell him or her in a firm, matter of fact and unmistakable way to stop their behavior, but tell them only ONCE. Harassers and stalkers want a REACTION from you. Any repeated contact is just that. Dry up their obsession similar to starving a fire by depriving it of oxygen.

· Return any mail unopened.

· Instead of changing your phone number get a second unlisted one for family and friends.

Use an answering machine on your old number so you can preserve any evidence of harassing and stalking behavior.

· Do not delete emails. Keep them in a separate folder in case you need to use it as evidence.

· Here’s an important one. Call the police. Some experts basically advise victims to only call the police when they have been threatened. Their theory being police probably won’t or can’t do anything until an actual threat has been communicated. Nonsense-call them if you’re concerned-that’s what they’re there for. No one has a crystal ball and can tell you when your harasser or stalker may get violent.

· Utilize a Restraining Order; however, most stalkers do not abide by them. (Call your local police department, court system or attorney to find out how to initiate them).

Self-Protection measures to consider:

· Equip your house with an alarm system. They are great deterrents to many types of crime including ones of personal intrusion.

· Make sure you have good, deeply set, dead bolt door locks.

· Consider buying a dog. Dogs can be extremely effective for our security and safety.

· Consider utilizing self-defense tools such as civilian Taser’s, pepper spray or a firearm.

And finally, there are support groups to help victims of stalkers. Seek them out locally or nationally. These groups offer many detailed strategies to combat and cope with stalking. Thankfully, a victim does not have to go it alone anymore.

Project Orion

Imagine a 4,000 ton spacecraft powered by 2,600 nuclear weapons and carrying a crew of 50. Imagine that spacecraft reaching Mars in 1965, and reaching Saturn by 1970. It might sound like science fiction, but this was in fact a real project, known as “Project Orion” which was seriously considered by some parts of the US government, and backed by many leading scientists, engineers and military people.

The story of this amazing idea is contained within “Project Orion: The Atomic Spaceship 1957 to 1965″. This is a book by George Dyson, the son of Freeman Dyson, who was one of the leaders of the project. The book is well written and quite clearly a labor of love. It contains a tremendous amount of detail about the project, how it would have worked, and the political struggles that eventually killed it.

Many details of Project Orion are still classified, how George Dyson appears to have been able to obtain more than enough information in order to tell a complete story. The book also contains numerous diagrams and drawings, many reprinted from original documents of the time – although sadly the photographs (at least in the paperback edition that I have) are all black and white.

Although the book is written in an accessible style that the layman can easily follow, it should also be emphasized that this is a high quality work that professionals and academics will appreciate too. For example, there is an 11 page list of Project Orion technical reports (apparently incomplete because of “restrictions imposed under the Atomic Energy Act of 1954″), nearly 300 footnotes, and a detailed index.
