P90X Results Stories

Part of my New Year’s resolution for 2009 was to complete P90X. I had seen the infomercials many times and the results that these people had achieved were something I desperately wanted. I would consider myself somewhat fit (as I do martial arts), but I don’t have a beach body by any means. I saw P90X as a means to get me what I wanted: an amazing body that is stronger and better for martial arts. I actually got my P90X tapes back in July of 2008, but kept putting them off. I know it’s stupid, but P90X really intimidated me, because I knew that it was a serious workout and I was afraid I’d fail. All I could think was, “What if it doesn’t work for me? I’m going to look so stupid telling everyone I’m doing P90X and at the end have nothing to show for my work.” Well, as the story goes, at the end of 2008 I just made up my mind and decided to go for it. My thought was that if I didn’t get the results I wanted the first time I could always do it a second time. So, on January 5, 2009, I began my quest.

The first day wasn’t as bad as I had built it up to be. Using only my resistance bands and pretty much no other equipment I made my way through the hour long tape. I would like to do P90X with the pull up bar and dumbbells, but you’ve got to work with what you have and I don’t have that stuff right now. Maybe the second time around I’ll spring for the good stuff. I also did the Ab Ripper X tape on day 1. That 16 minute tape was probably the hardest ab workout I’ve ever done and I really sucked at it, but I never quit.

The second day was by far the hardest, because it was 1 hour of plyometrics. I was jumping and squatting the entire time and my legs were on fire. Completing that workout was amazing, because I knew that if I made it through Plyometrics then I could get through anything. Day 4 was Yoga X and I’d say that was a hard day as well, because the tape was 90 minutes long. I’m not really a yoga person so it was definitely a struggle for me. I think that the more I do Yoga X the more I will like it, because I can see that it will really benefit me.

My favorite day was probably Day 6, the Kenpo X tape. I liked it because it had the martial arts element, the cardio element, but it wasn’t like Taebo (so that was good). I am really looking forward to doing this tape again next week.

Overall, week 1 of P90X went off without a hitch. I am looking forward to the following weeks, because I am confident that I will see the results that I want. If anyone else is undertaking P90X in 2009, good luck! I know that you can make it if you keep plugging away. If you are thinking about P90X then you should really give it a try. As a Nutrition & Fitness graduate I really believe that this program is for real (as long as you stick it out).

The P90X workout program is only effective when you eat the right foods through each of the three phases. The P90X nutrition plan is designed to help you get through each level of your workouts, so your calorie requirements and ratio of carbohydrates, protein and fats varies throughout your routine. If you’re doing Phase 1 of the P90X exercise program, you are in the ‘Fat Shredder’ phase where you need to provide your body with just enough energy to get through the vigorous workouts, and boost your metabolism in the process.

This part of the P90X program focuses on more protein than carbs and fat, so that your body can start using up its fat stores to get through your workouts. Here are some of the best foods to eat during Phase 1 of the P90X program:

1. Lean chicken breasts. A 3.5 oz. serving of chicken breast has 30 grams of protein, a significant amount for just one meal. You can enjoy this protein choice grilled with a green leafy salad, in a sandwich made with low-carb bread or buns, or with a serving of steamed, low-carb vegetables.

2. Salmon steaks. A single salmon filet contains over 20 grams of protein per serving, and is one of the easiest types of fish to prepare. You can enjoy grilled salmon with a salad, or pan seared in olive oil for a sandwich or main course. You can enjoy salmon at least two or three times per week on the P90X program to break up the monotony of chicken breast or tuna each day.

3. Tuna. A 6 oz. can of tuna contains about 40 grams of protein, and makes for a great snack or mini-meal when you’re on Phase 1 of the P90X program. A can of tuna is easy to pack and enjoy on-the-go, and you can enjoy it with a salad, on low-carb bread, or just on its own.

4. Tofu. If you’re trying to limit meat products while doing the P90X program, you need to find alternative sources of protein to get through Phase 1. This can be more of a challenge, but it’s definitely doable; just ½ cup of tofu contains about 20 grams of protein, so you can load up on this protein source for your salads, low-carb sandwiches and wraps, or just enjoy it as a snack.

5. Peanut butter. If you can eat peanut butter without overdoing it, you’ll find it to be a great source of protein for Phase 1 of the P90X diet program. Peanut butter contains about 4 grams of protein per tablespoon, and you can enjoy it on its own to curb hunger pangs and cravings. It’s also a great addition to a post-workout smoothie or meal.

6. Flax seeds. They’re a source of healthy fats and full of protein, making them a great addition to your P90X nutrition plan during Phase 1. Flax seeds can be sprinkled on yogurt, on top of a salad, or mixed into a marinade for your meat dishes.

7. Leafy green vegetables. Since you’re low-carbing during Phase 1 of the P90X program, you’ll need to eliminate high-sugar vegetables such as corn, carrots and potatoes. Focus on eating lots of lettuce, particularly romaine and kale, to enjoy a nutritious salad or side with your protein of choice.

Phase 1 of the P90X program consists of vigorous workouts coupled with a low-carb, low fat diet. It can be challenging to eliminate a lot of carbs at once during this phase, but you need to focus on adding lots of lean protein to your diet to maximize your fat burning potential.

However, as a whole most men will admit they consider sex very important. So when most men find out women are saving sex for marriage or practicing celibacy, men are likely to stop pursuit and move on to something more interesting and available. When men look to the online dating service most do so because they have something to hide or simply lack basic communication skills. Yet and still more often than not as I’ve found friends of mine that have done online dating do so because they felt the women were easy. As diabolical as most men sound, we are simplistic in nature. Men looking for a quickie in the online dating game are drawn to a few common elements of women’s profiles:

5) The women where not much interest has been expressed: Dating sites that tell you how many people are interested or have expressed interest in an individual concerns me. As a whole, men that are looking for a quickie search for the women that have very few interested individuals. I believe most men like to increase their odds of success with someone not many people pursue. A good friend of mine from Texas only use to date women whom nobody else showed interest in at all. He then proceeded to treat them however he wanted and they treated him like a king. From what he said, he liked the concept of simply conquering these women. When the conquest was done he had no more use for these women.

4) Women that accept men without a profile picture: Probably the shadiest of all men is the man that does not want to put his picture out there. They either fear getting caught or have something to hide. Men that do not put a profile picture up do this simply to be sneaky. I knew some women that developed relationships with men that they found attractive that didn’t put their profile up online or on their job. They actually were one of the few people on the staff that didn’t have a profile picture up on the site. As it turned out, the man that left his profile picture blank was both married and had children outside his relationship. He was both dodging his baby mama drama and trying to use other names to date new women. All the while he was supposedly trying to work thing out with his wife from whom he was separated. So as a whole, it’s a safe bet for women to stay away from men with no profile photo

3) Women that reveal insecurity quickly: All men and women have some issue that they are insecure about. Everyone has that little something that they would correct about themselves that would make them feel better. The men that deal with online dating primarily look for women with obvious insecurities that they can and do play on for their personal gain. I have one friend that told me in his online dating, that he was whatever the woman wanted him to be. If she looked old, he expresses how young she looked or said “my you aged so gracefully” If she was fat he would say “I love voluptuous women”. If she had children he would express his interest in his own kids. He ended up sealing the deal with 80% of the women he met offline from his online antics. In fact, most cases he met them and never really connected with them after the first night.

2) Women that state sex as a priority in a profile: Granted, I have a few female friends with as much interest in sex as most men. In fact the women I know that have a libido like men have a higher sex drive that men. In any event, most men look for women with the high sex drive. When a women state that sex is a 9 or more on a scale of 1 to 10 with ten being the highest, the men simply take their shot in the dark at the opportunity. Again, another friend of mine met with a woman that stated her true sexual desires in the profile. He met her and the fulfilled their needs. Unfortunately for her, he wanted nothing more than that experience. She genuinely wanted more. They went their separate ways, and he is still looking for another one like her to this day. He said it was his best experience. I’m not certain what it was for her

1) Women that sends revealing pictures: Now this item can go both ways. Men and women on some sites have fun sending revealing pictures. Sometimes women and men are just extraverts. As a whole, I find nothing wrong with revealing pictures. However, I do find issue with someone stating that they are devoutly religious when they are half dressed in there profile and looking for sex. Men look at picture profiles as advertisement. If your profile is selling sex, men will buy it every time. If you are just looking for a little risqué fun, I see no issue with stating that up front. Just beware of the men looking for a little more than risqué fun when the visit your profile.

Best Cruise Vacation Announcements

Cruise ship vacationers attempt to prepare for everything, packing anti-nausea medications, sunscreen and even thief-proof wallets. They even enlist the cruise line’s vacation planner’s help too, never dreaming that might be a problem, but it was, according to CNN.

Royal Caribbean cruise line vacationers from Boca Raton, Jupiter and Palm Beach Gardens found out that the threat for thieving wasn’t from another vacationer on the high seas, according to CNN it was from an employee of the cruise line.

Bethsaida Sandova, 38 and her husband John Lopez worked together to rob Royal Caribbean cruise line vacationers during their first night out to sea. Bethsaida used her job as a cruise line travel planner to access vacation arrangements in the wee hours of the morning, when no other Royal Caribbean personnel were around.

The cruise line’s employee would enter the Royal Caribbean building around 1 a.m. to retrieve address information on cruise line customers about to depart. If they lived in the targeted areas, they got paid a house call—after they were on their vacation, of course.

Bethsaida and her husband John would wait until the merry couple were safely out to sea and then the Royal Caribbean travel planner would drive her husband to the homes of the victims. The travel planner would serve as lookout, keeping the motor running, as John used his handy center punch tool to take out a small area of a sliding glass door window at the back of each home.

Royal Caribbean’s employee thefts of vacationing cruise line guests went on for several months, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, netting the travel planner and her husband lots of firearms, money and high-dollar property.

Royal Caribbean was in no way involved and was totally unaware their employee was putting in such late hours for her own gain, which is a concern security-wise for them and their vacationing travelers we now see.

The official statement by the cruise line did not address how they would prevent such future activity from occurring again, other than firing Bethsaida Sandova. But Royal Caribbean did state that they regret it happened, yet hoped travelers would focus on all the positive work ethics of their other employees. They also say they will reach out to apologize to the guests who were affected.

Royal Caribbean cruise line isn’t the only vacationing cruise line to have problems. There was a ‘Sex Assault on a Princess Cruise,’ guests were getting too happy and ‘Going Overboard on a Carnival Cruise’ and then there have been cruise line-related deaths: ‘Cruise Line Death Again: FBI Investigates.”

So Royal Caribbean’s employee thefts of passenger’s homes is just one more vacationing scandal to rock the cruise line industry in recent years. It’s just the first crime to violate a guest ‘off the ship.’

In order to patch the PDF exploit, an exploit that allowed JailbreakMe to jailbreak iPhones on firmware version 4.0.1 and also posed major security risks, Apple recently released iOS 4.0.2. While iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS users who upgraded to 4.0.2 may be out of luck for the time being, the iPhone 3G and iPhone 2G (the original iPhone) can still upgrade to the newest iOS and be jailbroken with Redsn0w. Instructions follow:

Step 1: Download the correct iOS 4.0.2 version for your iPhone from Apple and update your phone to this firmware via iTunes.

Step 2: Download iOS 4.0 firmware for your iPhone and the latest version of Redsn0w (can be found with a simple Google search) which is version 0.9.5b5-5. Run Redsn0w and when prompted to select an IPSW, select the iOS 4.0 firmware you just downloaded (NOT 4.0.2).

Step 3: Select the Install Cydia check box in Redsn0w and click Next. At this point you’ll need to make sure your iPhone is plugged in to your computer and turned off. Click Next again and be prepared to follow step 4.

Step 4: After clicking Next at the previous screen, Redsn0w will give a series of instructions on how to put your device into DFU mode. When this screen appears, follow the instructions which will involve pressing and releasing the home and power buttons and various intervals. Be sure to follow the instructions precisely as they are given.

The rest of the process is done automatically by Redsn0w and requires no user input. Once Redsn0w finishes this process, your phone will be jailbroken and should restart automatically. Check under general settings and you will find you are on iOS 4.0.2 and jailbroken!

Jon Lech Johansen of Norway has discovered and posted a workaround which allows iPhone owners to operate their device in a “limited fashion” without first activating service with AT&T.

The code, posted at his blog http://nanocr.eu/, does not allow phone use but rather turns the device into an expensive iPod and internet communicator. It essentially mimics an AT&T server, a method called ‘mimicry attack’, and allows for activation. He is calling it ‘Phone Activation Server 1.0′.

“I’ve found a way to activate a brand new unactivated iPhone without giving any of your money or personal information to AT&T,” he wrote in the blog post entitled ‘iPhone Independence Day’, or the “NSA.”

Another activation method was posted as a comment to Johansen’s blog. It requires having a friend who has legitimately activated the phone and based on current sales estimates, most of us may have such a friend soon. Borrowing their already activated SIM card activates the phone and leads to much the same result.

The hack is not likely to cause any serious monetary woes at Apple or AT&T but rather serves as a cause of bragging rights. In addition, it is an ominous sign that as the iPhone becomes more popular, more serious attacks loom in the not-so-distant future.

Other threats are already materializing involving the iPhone. E-mail scams using the iPhone as bait are commonplace only a week after the device’s release.

Jon Lech Johansen, a self taught engineer that dropped out of high school, is most famously known as DVD Jon for his work decoding the content-scrambling system used for DVD licensing enforcement.

In addition to this particular run in with Apple, Johansen has decoded the encryption that locks down iTunes-purchased music.

As a result of his prolific hacking, he has been something of a celebrity. He has even been interviewed on CNN.

This all may lead any reasonable reader to one question: Has he ever engaged and, as importantly, lost in a battle with the law?

Johansen’s closest run in with the law involved his decoding the DVD system. The MPA (Motion Picture Association, international counterpart to the MPAA) and the DVD-CCA (DVD Copy Control Association), two prominent organizations dedicated to preventing copying of DVDs, filed complaints about his actions that led to prosecution. Following this, there was a trial and appeal running from 2002 to 2003 that resulted twice in his acquittal. He was defended by the EFF (Electronic Frontier Foundation).

After living in the US for a year in 2005, he currently resides in Norway.

June 29th, 2007 marked the day in history when Apple release it’s most anticipated product known as the iPhone. With touchscreen capabilities, and more bells and whistles then any other phone the iPhone was shaping up to be the best phone over. And with a $600 price tag to match, Apple was either poised on reshaping the cellphone industry or having a big lemon on their hands. But with Apple’ track record how could they fail? The vision of Steve Jobs has carried Apple Inc. into greater heights then anyone could have imagined. But at the end of the day it’s not about Apple it’s about the people and I wanted to know what the NY tech. community thought about the iPhone. So I sent out a e-mail to the nextNY mailing list to see what their members had to say about the iPhone. If your not familiar with nextNY, they are a group of 1,000 members in the New York area who socialize around all things digital.

Darren Harman was the first to respond to my e-mail on his experience getting an iPhone, but it seems that AT&T wasn’t ready to handle the iPhone activation load. “I picked up the phone around 6pm on Saturday evening at the Westchester Mall in White Plains. The mall has a beautiful Apple Store and I was able to walk in, purchase an 8gb iPhone, pay, walk out, and leave the mall all in under 12 minutes. I feel bad for the folks who waited on 4 day lines! There was quite a few folks in the store looking to buy… Apple had planned for enough staff to be there and help s the purchasing experience was perfect. The problem lies in activation. I believe AT&T has dropped the ball here. I’m still waiting for my iPhone to be activated. I do not know whether or not I should call AT&T as I’d probably wait on the ‘call’ line for hours. It’s been now 13 hours since I have started trying to activate and it’s been frustrating nonetheless as my phone number has been ported over and I’m not able to receive phone calls,” stated Darren Herman on his blog. But after a 24 hour wait Darren was finally able to get his phone up and running. The iPhone is pretty much useless unless it is activated. The iPhone is a multimedia heavy device and needs the power of the AT&T data system in order to run the web features.

Greg Harris was the second from the list to respond and he also loved the phone but also has lots of issues with activation of the phone. But once he got up and running and the coolness factor of the iPhone wore off he notes, “But after the initial awe wears off, I can see some major issues with this phone. The biggest issue is the keyboard. I can’t use it. Being a Blackberry user, I type on a small keyboard constantly. The iPhone’s keyboard is ridiculous.” Ouch! But Greg Harris still enjoyed the iPhone despite the keyboard as he states, “All & all it’s an amazing phone. As a consumer I could see using it as my main phone.”

JP Checa is totally in love with his iPhone. “The fact that Apple says the iPhone’s OS is “five years ahead of its time” really shows in the device. Everything you do on it feels so different and natural at the same time. The outlook synchronization features and email capabilities keep me organized and I don’t feel tethered to my PC as much. It really changes how I go about my day now.” Now this statement shows that Apple is totally on the right track with innovation with the cell phone market. All the other cell phone makers are trying to rush touchscreen phones to the market asap. The LG Prada and the HTC Touch are just a few of the early responders to the Apple iPhone. But both phones fail on many aspects where the iPhone succeeds.

Overall the iPhone is a success. With over 500,000 being sold since it’s June 29th launch Apple is well on it’s way to making major noise in the overstuffed cell phone market. With the vision of Steve Jobs and the innovation of the Apple development team the iPhone is the wave of the future.
