Impressive. I have just had my first look at the 2010 MAZDA3. The car will not be released until February 2009. I have never seen so many great options inside a stylish small car. The grand touring model comes equipped with a 2.5 liter engine. Enough power to create 167 horsepower and 168 pound-feet of torque. The six-speed manual transmission replaces the 5 speed as standard equipment. So it still has that zoom zoom power. Once you get inside the vehicle, it’s all about the features. Push button ignition is one the new neat features. There are no “keys” anymore. Smart key technology takes over. Place the remote in your pocket press the small button on the door handle and your in. Starting the car is just as easy too put your foot on the brake and press the button to start the car. It doesn’t stop there only starts there. How about the Blind Spot Monitoring system. As cars enter your blind spot, you are notified with a small yellow light on your side mirrors. Hit your turn signal with the light on, it beeps to let you know its not safe. I have tried it out on the highway and it worked perfectly. As I let people pass me, I would see the system notify me of a car in my blind spot and turn off as the car moved past me.

Mazda‘s navigation features a smaller screen. The controls are located on the right hand side of the steering wheel. It was very easy to navigate through each screen without any direction or guidance from a manual. The best thing about the navigation will be its cost. Most manufactures charge $1,500 for navigation. This navigation system will be priced around $600. Making it a very affordable feature in a small car.

Climate control will be standard on the new Mazda3. I was also impressed with the 5 temperature settings on the heated seats. Keeping warm this winter will be easier with these features.

If its sound your looking for the new MAZDA3 has it. A Bose 10-speaker surround sound will make listening to music enjoyable. The vehicle comes standard with iPod connectivity. Blue tooth technology is there to play music through your iPhones or Blackberry as well.

Other safety features include: xenon self adjusting headlamps, side curtain airbags, stability and traction control, and rain-sensing wipers!

As you can see, the new MAZDA3 is not your typical stripped down economy car. This car will provide the fuel economy we will need for the future as well as the comforts we desire. All that without losing the very essence of every Mazda. The soul of a sports car.

There is nothing more infuriating than getting into your car only to find out that it would not start. As with other vehicle problems, the causes could range from a mere nuisance to major repairs. However, every driver must know the root cause of the problem and to give it a timely solution.

Murphy’s Law describes all about such situations: whatever can go wrong will go wrong, and at the worst possible time. No start problem could happen when you are already late for work or the car is 200 degrees below zero out. Now, that makes you even more infuriated and you realize that indeed anything that can go wrong will go wrong.

Troubleshooting no start problems would be easy if drivers know its causes. There are common causes and reasons behind the problem. The first reason is the failure of fuel pump failure or the restriction of fuel filter. This is the most prevalent cause of no-start problems in recent times. This is primarily due to the negligence of vehicle owners to enforce scheduled maintenance. Said negligence could be mirrored in part by not having the fuel filter changed at right intervals. Some fuel filters cost $100.00 however in vehicles like the Jeep Grand Cherokees which was built in the late 90s, replacement of fuel pump could cost about $800.00! How many times do you want to spend that much?

One significant cause for premature fuel pump failure is when the driver allows the fuel level to go lower than ¼ tank for extended periods or running completely out of fuel. This will make the electric fuel pump to run dry, which eventually destroys the pump. GMs Vortec engines – 4.3L, 5.7L with the CPI fuel injection system – fail in many ways. Some of the ways include plastic tubes leak, fuel pressure regulator leak, and when poppets get plugged.

No start problem could also be attributed to timing belt failure or timing belt tensioner failure. Basically, timing belts are engineered to last approximately 40,000-60,000 miles under normal use. If these belts break, it could result to engine damage. But for vehicles manufactured by Acura, Honda, Mitsubishi, and Nissan brands, the repairs would not be so costly. Moreover, it is recommended that the timing belt be changed at regular intervals. The tensioner should be replaced if questionable.

Another root cause of no start problems is distributor failure. When your vehicle breaks down without any warning – that could be an indication of the problem. Other symptoms include history of intermittent breakdown and intermittent failure to start from cold, which may be caused by security system failure. Mitsubishi electric distributors in the Ford Probe and Mazda vehicles have a high failure rate.

Electrical trouble is another cause of no-start problem. Ford ignition switches, manufactured in the early 90s, have been known to cause fires. Hence, every driver must check them regularly to shun future bother. One should not only focus on Volvo distributor rotor or Land Rover brake pads; he must inspect every auto part to ensure that it is in working condition.

Batteries, clamps and cables could also cause no start problems. Drivers and owners alike oftentimes neglect corroded batteries. The fact is, batteries do not last forever; do not confuse them with diamonds. Moreover, poor maintenance could result to battery failures that lead to other vehicle problems.

ECM/ PCM failure is also a no-start cause. This problem is common to GM products manufactured on mid 80s. Other causes include inaccurate fuel gauges, lack of oil, plugged exhaust systems, bad fuel injectors, and worn flywheel.

Wow, I am impressed at what the “New” Mazda has in their stable. This was always the one manufacturer that has been able to stay under the radar. Mazda‘s always putting out fantastic cars, just take a look at the popular Mazda-3 and MX-5 (Miata) roadster, the consumers love them. It hasn’t been since the new CX-7, did the company ever have an SUV that compared to some of the best. I had the pleasure to come take a look at the 2008 CX-7 and its stable mate, the nine passenger CX-9. Both variations had a lot to desire, and more to appreciate when you have the ability to get behind the wheel and eagerly push like you would it’s rotary inspired cousins.

First hand impressions of the new SUV was one of complete awe. Never did I see such a breakthrough look of the conventional box SUV, this one has acquired some of it’s streamlined looks from its car lineup. The Front end design kinda had a blend of RX-8 while keeping true to a muscular front facsia. The CX-7 had stunning factory 18″ wheels and a nice low center of gravity to compliment the look. This not only helped with the stability and body roll, but it also made ingress and egress a snap. It’s no wonder all the women had nothing but great things to say about that element. Sleek, bold, and clean were just a few words to describe the CX-7.

Secondly, I was thrilled to drive a nicely loaded touring model with sport cloth seating and navigation. The seats were sporty, they had some nice lateral support and fabric was durable. Something a little different than other car companies. I really adored the way the dash was put together, lots of angular cockpit shapes and anti-glare facing give it a high quality appeal. This model was also equipped with the automatic tranny with active select, a feature I liked even more when I don’t have to mess with the clutch deal. It was easy to transition all the gearing on my own. Additionally, the stereo system sounded great, the XM satellite radio is a plus, and the navigation was clear and simple to operate. Truly an up to date piece of tech-mobile, and would clearly win shoppers over with the controls’ ease of use.

I got up into the back seat, and found the head room just a tad bit small. And that’s easy to understand because from outside, it is one of the shortest looking SUV’s out there yet, so there is the tradeoff. The AWD model I looked at with all the options short of a sunroof and leather put my tally just a smidgin over $33k. And base models click in at a mear $27,990 with about $37k at the peak pricing. Expect anywhere between $1,800-$2,700 of wiggle room from invoice to MSRP, so there is a little negotiation to swing plus you’ll receive any applicable incentives. A modest price range for a midsize and is easily competitive with similar types.

I’m glad I had a chance to review the new CX-7, it ranks high on my list of SUV’s with decent gas mileage and a look that appeals to a younger generation. I’ll soon be doing a review on it’s longer bodied CX-9, and tell you exactly why its the best compromise to the Suburban and Expedition EL. Check back soon for more reviews!!
