Dolores sehr empfehlenswert – Traumtänzer – Dresden
Dies ist nach Misery der zweite Film mit Katy Bates in einer Hauptrolle, den ich sehe und ich bin begeistert gewesen.

Die filmische Umsetzung ist sehr gelungen und sehr gefallen hat mir die Stimmung, die von dem Ort auf der abgelegenen Insel, ihren kauzigen Bewohnern und der Kälte und Ungemütlichkeit des Hauses von Dolores Claiborne gezeigt wird.

Aber am besten waren die feinzügige und vielseitig Charakterisierung der Hauptpersonen Dolores Claiborne und ihrer Tochter. Interessant war auch die Entwicklung von Dolores zu sehen, wie sie sich aus den Zwängen ihrer gescheiterten Ehe mit ihrem alkoholsüchtigen und brutalen Mann befreite und doch wieder in eine erneute Abhängigkeit begab.

Die Todesumstände, in der sowohl ihr Ehemann als auch ihre langjährige Arbeitgeberin ums Leben kommen, werden Stück für Stück aufgedeckt und auch wenn man sich sehr schnell klar ist, dass es unmöglich geplanter Mord sein kann, so ist aber auch ein Mord im Affekt oder Notwehr durchaus denkbar. Wie es nun tatsächlich ist, dass möchte ich hier nicht verraten.
Sehr guter Film – Giovanni Bauer –
In dem Film Dolores geht es darum das Dolores Claiborn verdächtigt wird ihre langjährige Haushälterin umgebracht zu haben um an ihr Vermögen zu kommen. Ihre Tochter zu der sie seit Jahren keinen Kontakt mehr hat erfährt durch einen Zeitungsartikel davon. Alte Konflikte tauchen wieder auf. Und starb der Mann von Dolores wirklich durch einen Unfall? Schon damals hatte es Zweifel gegeben.

In diesem grandiosen Film bleibt nicht wie es am Anfang scheint. Viele moralischen Maßstäbe die man hat werden in Frage gestellt.

Der Film war von seiner Geschichte genauso fesselnd, wie von den Schauspielern.
Kann man nur weiter empfehlen.

Der extrem spannende Film entstand nach einem Roman von Steven King aber weniger mit Horror, als mit ganz viel psychologischer Beobachtung. Eine junge Journalistin dringt in die Vergangenheit ihrer Mutter ein. Diese steht als Mörderin unter verdacht. Ihr droht lebenslange haft.

Zwei Stunden lang Psychowäsche.

Warner Home: 22 Jahre lang sorgte Dolores für die zänkische Millionärin Vera Donovan. Als diese in ihrem Haus tot aufgefunden wird, fällt der Verdacht auf die Angestellte, dessen Mann vor Jahren durch einen ähnlich mysteriösen Unfall zu Tode gekommen war. Ihre… Dunkle Geheimnisse, Familiendramen und zwei Morde umgeben die stoische, verstockte Figur der Dolores Claiborne (Kathy Bates), eine Haushälterin, die verdächtigt wird, ihre langjährige Dienstherrin ermordet zu haben. Dann gab es ja auch noch den Unfall, bei dem Dolores Mann (David Strathairn) “zufällig” genau zur rechten Zeit während der Sonnenfinsternis des Jahres 1975 ums Leben kam. Und dennoch, trotz des düsteren Leids, das Dolores wie ein Miasma des Schmerzes verfolgt, es ist alles nichts, verglichen mit dem Kummer in der Beziehung zu ihrer erwachsenen Tochter (Jennifer Jason Leigh). Obwohl dieser Streifen vor Horror nur so strotzt, handelt es sich dabei nicht um etwas Übernatürliches, sondern vielmehr um den Schmerz, den nur wirkliche Menschen einander antun können. Das Drehbuch ist voll farbiger Sprache und Regisseur Taylor Hackford gelingt es, verschiedenste Handlungsstränge und psychologische Zwickmühlen in die fesselnde Geschichte einzuflechten, ohne auch nur eines davon zu vernachlässigen. Er entlockt seiner Besetzung nicht nur intensive schauspielerische Leistungen, er erweckt auch die Landschaft um sie herum zum Leben. Als schließlich das an meisten gehütete Geheimnis des Films preisgegeben wird, geschieht dies vor dem surrealen Hintergrund einer Sonnenfinsternis, die ein wirklich sensationelles Stück Filmkunst darstellt. –Rochelle O’Gorman
