This worked pretty good in our last power outage. We could receive several radio stations (not just the local one) and the weatherband to keep up with what was going on with the storms. It takes a bit to wind it completely up. Worth having something that doesn’t have to have batteries to work.

Got this radio through an independent seller/store at Amazon, great service, but after a very short time, the adaptor ceased to work (this was discovered via my dad’s electrical meter). I had to go through hell with Eton’s customer service just to get a replacement, and that one was/is crappy as well, so I just gave up. Plus, the included cell phone charger was a complete dud. And, on top of it, I can crank the handle for a good five minutes and get maybe four minutes of airtime. Listen- I am not a tech type; I am primarily reviewing this radio because Eton’s customer service was so bad, which really suprised me. Never again.

This radio picks up a lot of stations, a.m. & f.m.
Its weight and size make it easily carried along even when your hands seem already full.
Knowing I have a crank puts out of my mind the apprehension of ever having to be without it.

weather channel reception is poor – Merlin – Houston
I had already bought 2 of the Midland crank radios and was happy with them, except the rechargeable battery is small and one failed already after a month. (probably should not have left the adapter plugged in? anyway I wanted another similar radio and gave this one a try. In my house the Crane radio would not pick up any of the weather channels no matter which way I oriented the radio, while the Midland radios pick up several weather stations. So I returned the Crane unit. Also, the Crane radio does not come with an AC adapter charger. For just an AM/FM radio I guess it would be fine and the crank charger seemed to work well (battery arrived flat, but after a minute of winding the radio played.) Anyway, the weatherband is very important to me, so back it went. Thanks again Amazon for an excellent return policy.
